I wonder if anyone can enlighten me (excuse the pun please) on when to use just sidelights. Personally I tend to only switch my headlights on as they obviously make me more visible while driving along in dark conditions. I tried looking in the Highway Code for advice but couldnt find any. Hope to find the answer here!

i only use mine when i park on a dark road, when driving like you i think if its dark enough for lights then may aswell use headlights.
Loads of dickheads round here use just sidelights+fogs they think its cool[V]

Dave, absolutely true, so many around here think sidelights+fogs are acceptable and it really is getting to become one of my massive pet hates. I flash at them (assuming no cars behind) but they look gone out, it is illegal to drive with your fogs on when visibility is above 100m or not severely reduced. grrr.

Anyway, I use my sidelights during:

Dusk/Dawn when dim but not dark (a time that lasts anywhere between 15 and 45 mins usually a day)
Heavy rain if dim light
Fog
Snow

Same as Paul: basically any conditions when I want my car to be clearly seen by other drivers but not dark enough for headlights. Don't get me started on foglights.

I'm afraid i'm one of the fools.........i don't have fogs, but i always have my half lights on, (on the cinq its like full headlights or half lights) Sorry! doesn't bother all the arrogant twats around where i live, they're too busy navigating their huge 4x4's around to notice!

Oh and to add to the serious topic, like Helz said, I would like to say that I use sidelights when I want to be seen but don't need to see any extra.

bink is staying here, i got him because he was unwanted but he is realy happy now. you could sell the birds my mate had one he paid £400 for it but he got rid of it because of the noise.
RSPCA is always looking for homes for rabbits you could get one off them, but don't keep it in a huch thats crule
