User Reputation

As you may have noticed, there is now a user reputation field associated with each of you. It starts at 10, and goes up when people give you credit, you get another 1000 posts, or stay an extra year.

If what someone says is helpful, please show your appreciation by giving some credit. If its a dreadful or otherwise unhelpful answer, you can mark it as bad.

The icon you want is a set of scales underneath the username.

However please DO NOT use it to make your friends look popular, or to comment on how 'fit' someone is. Reputations can be a useful indicator of someones usefullness, but only if used properly, Those with high reputations should have earned it from their quality answers and effort put into the forum, not due to the fact they have 'massive baps'...

Yes I can read all the comments.... you have been warned

are you lot just playing about with the reputation thing giving each other negative??

i will sell the use of my negative feedback to someone for some positive feedback to me.

Er, just a quickie for ya, how come the only scales i can see are under MY username and noone elses? I know people may think, wahey he can give himself lots of good rep, but tried it and i can't!!!

thats just for you to check your own reputation points :) You can only see your own, i tihnk mods use it to hand out rep.

ben, is the new system working on the same scale?

so how many rep points do you need before you get one of those funky green boxes? i presume mods have to evaluate how many you have before deciding wether or not to give you the green light,so how often is this reviewed, having given out rep marks for helpful souls it would be nice to see them get the credit they deserve, and would it be a good idea to say who they recieved the rep marks from so they can see that there help with an issue was grateful.

You need 5 rep points (you start with 4) before you get the first green square.

When you get a rep point, it appears in your 'user cp' so that you can see which thread it was awarded for. The person who nominated you is kept confidential.

oh cool, thought i was doin well with four! not been recognised though bit disappointing that  ,oh well maybe one day.

Forgive me in advance for my ignorance, (have to do that a lot by the way), but why do I only ever see the 'scales' on my posts? How do you leave good rep points?

click on 'report thos to moderator' and make your comments they will issue rep points when applicable (y) and the scales are there so you can see your own rep points just click on it and see!

Have you tried looking at the 'stickies' in each forum, it tells you everything you need to know about giving rep.

Also, doing a search on 'reputation' should bring up sooooo many threads, asking the same thing.
