hi is anyone insured with these guys just had a quote and they were well cheap only thing worries me is that they are irish and what service would be like if i had to make a claim

I'm with Quinn. Never had to make a claim, but their customer service is excellent. I'm more than happy with them. The staff are friendly, polite, and most importantly, ENGLISH SPEAKING.

If you're really worried you can write to them under the Freedom of information act (2005) asking why their quotes are so cheap. If there's a bad reason they have to tell you by law, provided you ask in writing.

I've just started with Quinn in the last month or so and as said before, service is excellent (although not had any claims). I went with them because they were massivly cheaper than all others, especially due to their 'named driver discount' which I found useful, but be aware, they'll required a letter from your old insurance company as proof within 3 weeks of taking out the insurance for the discount to stay. (Certificate of insurance doesn't count).

With all due respect, I believe that Quinn Direct are total ****e.

Fine, if you have never had to have dealings with them and it was just a matter of handing over the money for them to insure your car then they are fine.

I had an accident back in December. Some guy cut an island (essentialy went right as opposed to going round) and hit the passenger side of my car as I pulled a giveway. I am only third party fire and theft, and I had only passed my test 5 days before the accident, so creditability, was not going to look good no matter who insured me, and I accepted that, but Quinn really did take the **** when it came to dealing with my claim.

First of all, they asked me if anyone was injured and after telling them no, my case manager insisted that I get all my friends who were in the car at that time to sign forms saying that they would not claim against quinn any time within the next three years relating to that accident. When I said that I would not do this on moral grounds as who knows what could have come up from an accident that severe, they threatened to terminate my insurance and asked me to write god knows how many statements to try and undercut the creditability of any of my friends who tried to claim.

Worst of all, they found me 100% liable. When I asked them if they had looked at the CCTV they said they hadn't and wouldn't as I had pulled a giveway and that was all that mattered. Then fact that he went the wrong way round the island was irrelevant and they quite forwardly just asked me to drop it and let it rest. They dealt with me so unprofessionaly I was appalled, they never once even tried to fight my case and were only interested in getting the case out the way (He had about £50 worth of damage to his front bumper where as he had completely creased the side of my car in).

Useless insurance company, and the saying "you pay for what you get" applies. Direct Line, or one of the major injurers who really don't **** about I would say is your best bet. Providing you have not already become insured.

It's worth remembering that ALL insurance companies will try and get out of making a payment. That's how they make their money.

And chances are, if they found you liable, then you probably were. If you pulled off the give way line with a car coming then it is your fault.

Not what you wanted to hear I know, but I wouldn't write off an insurance company becuase of one incident. Some freinds told me about Quinn (2 of them, having made claims successfully) and so far everything they've told me has been true.

I pulled off the giveway line because why would I be looking for a car coming the wrong way round an island? Lol.

Yes, As I said, most insurance companies are professionaly trained in the art of fraud, but still I was highly unimpressed with service delivered. I have stuck with them because they still provided the cheapest insurance cover service.

I personally don't recommend them, but then again, I don't have much experience with insurers on the whole.

The other person may have been on the wrong side of the road but you should have looked both ways before pulling out. What if a pedestrian had decided to start crossing the road and you pulled out without looking that way?

He would have made an excuse to his insurance company with regards to being on the wrong side of the road. Quinn would have challenged his company about it. His excuse may have been far better than you not bothering to double check before pulling out :)

As for quinn, There great (y) Only thing I dont like is any performance or major body mod, they require a garage report before insuring you over it. ITs fair enough but annoying sometimes :) THey allow alloys and bodykits etc no problem, they wont even charge for some.

im on quinn and have had an accident being only 17, and it seems quinn are very good. I have found it is actually the opposing persons insurance that takes the ****. they havnt asked me to get my friends to sign anything.
they are very cheap (no change in price from a 1.4 to a 1.6 in my 1st year of driving). Mods wise they do not care about mods so long as they do not effect the performance of the car. i.e. visual mods are ok, exhaust may be checked to see if it increases performance(wish they paid for a rolling road:rolleyes: )

nyway hope this helps
