Does anyone know of a company that does liability insurance for off road bikes (unregistered Scramblers)? I've tried and can't see anything.

what exactly does it cover? i have a motorcross bike

That's what i want to know can you get 3rd party liability cover for a motocross bike? Only for off road use.

isnt the land you are using it supposed to have the cover rather than the bike?

I don't know Dave, I know clubs can cover events but can a single person cover himself for land in which the public have access, such as green lanes that are not classified as a road?

green lanes are the same as tesco car park, if it has public access then bike has to be fully road legal, cant have an off road bike on that land

Sorry bad example, But doesn't need to be road legal for public access just needs liability insurance as long as it's not a road or road bike, as there is offence of road bike riding other than a road that doesn't cover off road only bikes.

Just to give the full circumstances, a lad (he seems decent) was stopped using a non road motocross bike on an industrial site not on or near a road & not causing anoyance to anyone, but the large waste area has access to public for which was not insured. his bike was siezed and will be crushed if no liability insurance can be found. I spoke to the officer that siezed it who is happy for it to be returned but as only traffic officers can authorise it's release he has no say either.

So liability ins needs to be found or he's knackered which I think maybe a bit over the top. OK he shouldn't have been using it, but common sense has to come into the equasion so trying to help the lad out.
