Why will my insurance go up by 4% when I put 284mm discs on the front and do a rear disc conversion on my Sei   surly being able to stop quicker with more control is a GOOD thing

Because its a chance to get more money out of you - regardless of if it makes the car safer.

I agree though, what's more likely to work - standard brakes not checked until they are squeeling as metal grinds metal? or uprated brakes fitted by a competent enthusiast?

:yeahthat: Same reason as my so-called 'rally spotlights' (standard Fiat bumper with foglights).

Some insurers will see it as a good thing, some will see it as an incentive to drive the car harder and possibly beyond your limits.

frizzel don't charge extra for break conversions, as long as the conversion is better than original.

likewise they don't charge extra if you have a tow bar fitted, as its seen as protection to the insured vehicle.

I think I'm gonna get one for the punto, as I'm fed up of people tailgating.

Biiigg meaty towbar with polished ball + suddenly breaking = car behind literally shtting there pants. serves them right for not keeping the correct and safe braking distance in winter conditions:rolleyes:

true.

BUt you'll notice less people will tailgate you in traffic if you have a towbar!!!!

thats all they look at, just the ball of penetration and death, and not whats happening around.

So I would say youare maybe less likely to get shunted??

and if the accident was hard enough to distort/move subframe then they would have written off a punto anyway
