And please don't say that "if you can't afford to insure the mod" b0ll0x, it's condecending and it's not true.

Oh no? Driving without valid insurance is legal now is it?

Fraud is legal too?

IF YOU DRIVE AROUND WITH A CAR THAT IS NOT THE SAME CAR THAT IS ON YOUR INSURANCE POLICY, THEN THE CAR IS NOT COVERED. THIS IS ILLEGAL; FIRSTLY YOU ARE TRYING TO DEFRAUD THE INSURANCE COMPANY (IN TERMS OF THE CAR'S 'STANDARDNESS' AND ANY MODS MADE) AND SECONDLY, YOU ARE DRIVING WITHOUT INSURANCE WHICH IS AN OFFENCE IN ITSELF. YOU DON'T NEED TO BE INVOLVED IN THE INSURANCE INDUSTRY OR BE A COPPER TO FIGURE THAT OUT.

I have a set of alloys and -50mm lowering springs in the attic. They are not on the car because I CAN'T AFFORD THE INSURANCE HIKE.

And my comment to GhettoMoose was about putting someone into intensive care and not having valid insurance, not about the level of insurance. What does 3rd party only cover? Third party injury/damage. 'Nuff said.

Well as it goes Fraud may be illegal... but the insurance co's are doing it to you... daylight robbery, but you probably would'nt mind being shafted as long as the law says says you have to take it once a month would you.

My comment was not about the level of insurance either because as long as you take out a policy (correct details or not) the company have to cover the "thrid party" as in the person you put into intensive care or family you take the main earner away from, they just don't have to cover you. This is as far as I have been told by people in the know e.g police etc.

ok guys this getting a bit out of hand. I realise that everybody feels that insurers put their own interests first, unfortunatly we all need to stick to their rules to stay legal. My advice is to consult your insurance documents and make sure you comply with the terms and conditions. These vary widly between policies and its difficult to generalise about this kind of stuff.

EDIT: Re-reading... I'm locking this as it is becomming more argumentative.
