I Have Got A Fiat Cinquecento S 1995 899cc Three Door Hatchback Manual Petrol And The Cheapest Insurance Quote ive Got Is £2771! It Is Ridiculous For Such A Small Car! Im 18 And Bought My Car For £200 , Can Anyone Help Me!? (n)

Despite being small and cheap to run Cinq's are expensive to insure because they're old, an equivalent 'new' Panda for example would probably cost you 1/2 as much to insure, of course it'd cost more to buy so it's swings and roundabouts. Ring around, shop around, get it as low as you can, if you don't need to be driving at night try something like iKube or insurethebox I think it's called, they install a tracker on your car but apparently their quotes are very good if you don't mind having your driving restricted to daytime.

It amazes me how many people buy a car, without checking the insurance costs before hand.

Also, price of the car doesn't really effect it. Can still do £10,000 damage in a £200 car, or a £20,000 car.

If you do £10,000 damage in a £20,000 car then that is likely to cost the insurance £29,500. If you do £10,000 of damage in a £200 car then its likely to cost £9,800 :p
Assuming a £500 young drivers excess.

I'm not including getting your car fixed :p.

If you crash a £20,000 car your more likely to walk away if you crash a £200 cinq then there is a very good chance of serious injury or death (very poor NCAP rating) dead customers is never very good for the insurance companies because the dead are really difficult, to get, to pay their premiums.

If I were you I would ring around the companies, try higher voluntary excess lower your mileage allowance (and keep your driving down to a minimum) sadly 18year olds keep hurtling off the road having accidents not paying attention and generally treating the roads like a play ground, this means that you all get tar'd with the same brush and charged a fortune. You're lucky as your premiums will come down, I'm now at the other end of the spectrum where they don't go down any more they seem to go up year after year.

I checked insurance on a lot of cars like Peugeots Vauxhalls etc they were all in the 3-4k range and I saw my car for 250 out front so it was a grab it whilst you can moment got it down to 200 with central locking so can't complain but insurance is abit steep for this car alot of people saying that :/:confused:

I can only suggest trying something like insure the box and accepting the restrictions for a couple of years until you get some NCB.
Have you tried adding your parents as named drivers? That often helps to reduce the policy. That may even see your quotes down to £2k.
Other than that, within reason most cars are going to be similarly expensive to insure. An 899 Cinq isnt going to be much cheaper than a 1.2 Grande Punto.

Its the same for me. I drive a 2.4l Stilo and Pay around £800 for my insurance all mods declared and like for like replacement protected No claims etc etc. I want a second car so have been getting quotes on things like Smart cars which comes out at like £550 with no mods and airs and graces on the policy LOL.

Just to confirm what Volxstu said, i'm currently looking to buy a 2010-11 Audi A5 insurance quotes on that come out at £700ish where as i'm currently paying about £500-550 on my Punto the car doesn't make a huge difference.

No it isn't. Regardless of if you drive a Fiat or a Lambo, your being indemnified for £20million for your liabilities to others!

£20,000,000!!!

Thats a lot of zero's!

As others have already said, the car you've got doesn't make the biggest of differences at times.

Out of interest, you keep saying its a lot. What sort of price were you expecting

Hmmm thats true tbf and well all my mates are currently paying around 1500 for an audi a3 astra and fiesta so was looking around there, im dreaming i no but you can always dream am i right haha ;)

Hi,

Feel free to give us a try for a quotation if you like. We have special schemes for most young drivers on low insurance group vehicles. If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be more than happy to get one of my quotes team to give you a call back.

Regards,

Dan.
