It was a W reg Mk2 wasnt it?
I think you underestimate exactly how much fronting is over estimated on forums. To the rest of the world its just an every day thing.

Just because its socially exceptable, like speeding, doesnt mean it is right. Give an insurance company any chance to void your policy and they will.

Funny thing is, its that sort of attitude which puts up insurance, for example, Person A is fronting their insurance and they hit Person B. Person A insurance voids their policy and then that leaves Person B only able to claim off their own insurance due to being hit by an uninsured driver.

The person who's fault it wasn't is left to foot the bill for something that was not their fault, how fair is that?

Driving a car is a priviledge, not a right. If you can't afford it then don't drive.

Fronting is circumstantial. If like what the guy said he will have to go on his mums insurance, the car is in her name and she has the potential to drive it or does drive it, the insurer has no reason to investigate different.

Agreed, fronting is indeed circumstantial, but it's now investigated more than people think ;)

If mother has more than one car registered in her name (remember companies asking how many cars are at the household) it'll be investigated for example (y)

Fronting certainly is being investigated more than before

I am contracted to 5 different insurers to photograph cars involved in accidents, and one of the "Required" photos of each car is now a detailed Interior shot, showing evidence of type of user. (EG looking for evidence that the regulat driver is of the younger pursuation)

Fronters tend to not take this into account and the cabin fairly regularly shows a indications that the main driver is a lot younger than the registered keeper.

EG: Policy Holder Male 59, Secondry Driver Female 19

Not had to work out the main driver!!!

My evo is £1300 cheaper when fronting with my dad. Must say it is tempting.

Not when you get caught out though, £200 fine, 6 points, possibly car seized, £150, plus storage costs (£12 a day round here I believe). Plus the added cost for the next 5 years of saying that you got caught without insurance.

Plus, no no claims when you are a named driver. I know a couple of people that did it, they are still paying £1000+ for their cars, nothing special, 1.2/1.4s. I'm paying £570 for a 2.8 at 22.

I am an 18 year old male. With a 1.4 sporting mk2B in summer i dont use the car because i go on my motorbike but on my own insurance is 15000 but when I go on my dads it goes down to 2900. There is no way i could afford 15000 on my part time job so I have gone on my dads.

Get a cheaper car to insure then, or go without...thats what 99% of the public have to do when they can't afford something.

It would surely be very difficult to prove who the main driver is though especially when their are 3 people on the policy who all drive the car from time to time? How could they void it even if the younger driver had a smash? Its expected if one of the three where going to crash the car it would be the young person anyway 8\10 which is why the price is high even if the young person only drives it occasionally. Only evidence that's reliable would probably be interviewing neighbours. Also as long as the person who is the main driver drives the car slightly more than the named driver technically they couldn't do anything anyway

You go on believing that mate. There are plenty of ways and post 9 is only one of them (y)

Lol since taking out the new insurance my parents have drove the car and I haven't yet, that's not breaking the law. I like to say the cars mine and yes the car was bought with me in mind however they drive the car too.
