I'm going to be collecting my new 500 on September the first. All of the finace is in my Dad's name however I would like the registered keeper to be myself. This is to save approximately £300 on my insurance premium since being young and male has brought my premium up to £2000 for a 1.2 lounge.
I was just wondering if it is possible to have a different registered keeper from what is set up on the lease?
The finace was set up in my Dad's name because of his much longer credit history, it will be me who pays for the lease.

I've read the terms over thoroughly and there is no mention in regards to registered keepers. I didn't notice this when I read the terms through at the dealership or when I just read it through.
I'm not one to skip or skim small print as they are integral to the work that I do , add to that I'm a worrywart so I like to check, check and check again.
It's beyond me why it would make a difference to price but for whatever reason all of the online brokers churn out higher quotes in excess of £300.
The policy that I'm wanting to take out is fully comprehensive covering me for just 6,000 miles a year with the car spending much of the time at my drive in a quiet village.
I'm also adding my Dad as a named driver so that he will have use of the car when he occasionally requires. He has never had an accident since passing in 1974! Most quotes fall between £1700 - £2200.
I'm 21, male and I've only had my licence since February of this year hence the price. I'm avoiding fronting and want my own policy to also help build up some no claims which should help out once it comes to renewing. :bang:

Why dont you just contact the lease and insurance companies and put the question directly to them???

I've tried to get through to the dealership (Arnold Clarke) on two occasions, however I always get through to the receptionist and the sales team are always busy. Still no call back today, I think I will just go over the the dealership and put it to them directly.

Why not speak to the actual leasing company? I wouldn't go by what the sales team say to you.

:yeahthat: Some lease companies can get a bit anal. I only once ever had a lease & the basic tone of the contract was that the car belonged to them until they recieve final payment, at which time, ownership transfers to me. During this time I wasn't allowed to so much as look at the car the wrong way. They were officially the registered owners, I was the registered keeper.
BTW, when you do speak to the leasing company, if they give you the answer you want to hear, make sure to ask them to put it in writing, and when you do get confirmation, make sure you read the letter carefully to ensure they have written what they said.
