£729 quote and i'm 18 :)

yeah thanks people, but as i said i CANNOT in any way afford my own policy, i don't know anyone who can at my age. And i drive sensibly.. i don't do donuts in car parks and video it .....

Your forgetting that driving isn't a right, its your choice to drive. If you can't afford a new game, do you just steal it, or wait until you can afford it?

Its really easy to find out when someone is fronting, can pretty much do it at the roadside.

You think finding insurance is hard now, try doing it with 6 points for no insurance...then you'll have to declare it to other companies when your getting quotes...bet most will tell you to feck off.

Said it before on here, crash and kill someone and it costs around £1,000,000. Your insurance company are going to find anyway possible to get out of paying, fronting is the perfect reason.

To be honest, she has drove more than me so far considering i got it on thursday, so technically the insurance is valid... I understand all the stuff about putting your premiums up, but i'd rather be a sensibe driver on the road than not have a car at all, as it's needed, i didn't do 45 driving lessons and sit a test for no reason..

So you understand that it's actions like yours that make my premium £3000 (which at 17 I'm paying myself), but you just dont care? Inconsiderate much?
Surely driving without fully legit insurance means that you're not a sensible driver.

And 45 lessons:eek: no wonder you've got no monies left for insurance.

First post here... Ive been browsing a bit and decided to post this..

I'm 18, own a black 1.2 punto standard, and i managed to wittle my insurance down to £729...

Heres how:
Instead of using my dad with full no claims, i changed it to my mam being the main driver and policy holder etc.. i put me as second driver. I did this through Aviva's website and managed to get this policy on the go.

A few mates have been getting £1000 and £800 for clio's etc.. worth a try guys!

Thanks.
Basically, doing this you are breaking the law technically :(

Also you have not done yourself any favours by posting this, all that I can't afford it doesn't wash I'm afraid. Either get more work and pay the bills or stay off the roads!

What you are doing is very illegal if your driving more than the main driver and im 19 with 2 years NCB and il be renewing for about £700 ish for my 1.2 16v punto so why dont you pay monthly out of your wages? Yeah its gonna be more expensive in the long run but at least youll be on the road if your that desperate.

You are just hiding the inevitable!
I was kicking about in 1ltr polo's when my friend's first car was an
UNO turbo+ he had a Accord coupe+BMW 3series 2.8.
Long story short his mum kicked him off her insurance at 25years old and it cost him £1600 to insure a 1.3civic, you basically start with nothing!
You say to them I've been driving X amount of years, they say OK where's your no claims?
You say ain't got any then BAM! ££££££ to insure it please!

Just handle it like we all did, start on your own.
or you are wasting your time and if you think about it your money in the long run!

Also kinda on topic, Why is it they change the rules to say women can no longer be considered "safer" than men for insurance, so the insurance companies instantly think "ok we'll raise women's insurance" not "ok well lower men's insurance to match"

2011 - £700
2012 - £700
2013 - £700
2014 - £700
2015 you decide to get your own insurance
so you've now spent £2800 and still have to pay top dollar because you have zero no claims bonus.
And that's assuming you have no prangs because I will wager that your insurance company know exactly what you are up to & are taking your cash in the knowledge that as soon as you try to claim they can refuse to pay out & even take you to court for more money for fronting.

Because it hasn't suddenly made males less Likely to claim. Ours might go down by 10% if were lucky, but I doubt you'll notice the 10%

i'm with the other guys here just man up and pay the prive or sell it and get a seicento until you CAN afford your own insurance, i am payind over a grand for my mk1 sporting with my dad and his girlfiend on as extra drivers (this brought my insurance down by £800), yes it may cost you this year but it will be cheaper next year and the year after, plus you have peace of mind that you are legal where as at the mo you really ARE commiting fraud as when i passed i was going todo this but found out its very very dodgy and the insurance company have now got sooooo many loop holes to get out of paying WHEN you do crash, statistically yo are 80% more likely to crash than the rest of us cos your a new young driver, plus when you crash you will not only mess your car up you will basically delete all of your mums no-claims as its her policy

be a man and pay the price

Im sick of my premiums being so high because of people such as yourself. If you cant afford insurance, you cant afford to drive. Simple. Exactly the same as if you cant afford petrol you cant afford to drive. It's going to cost you a hell of a lot more if you have a crash, they find out your fraud and your insurance is invalid.

You have been informed on here by a lot of very helpful and knowledgable people (People who's premiums you are also indirectly increasing) that what you are doing is wrong so I would expect you, asuming your a decent person, to sort it.

I've done it! i was only part time, on under 18 pay
Had to pay for the car - the insurance and cost of running the car!!
And thing is - i also had to save up for the next years insurance!!

I paid 1600 1st year
year 2 about 1000
year 3 750ish i think it was
Year 4 coming up soon 750 :( (not happy! Should have gone down!)

And ontop of that still got cost of running, tax, and 3 gearbox's!!

and i'm still driving! okay yes money is tight, but when you have a car, you are always without money!

Man up - Work hard - feel the benifit of been free!!

Behave - its not hard, keep your distance
The Horn is your friend :)

Im in the same boat as you mate, however i just got a few extra shifts in work on top of 6th form its hard at times but is dooable. i pay £330 a month, its a joke but atleast i get my no-claims. man up andget a job. at the end of the day it will eventually come down. If i have to work my ass of then so should you! lol.

course it is,
its funny cos b4 i got my car i was thinking well this is gonna boost my social life. what a fail that was! if im not in work im in college and then if im not at college im fixing my Punto :p. Wouldnt swap my little green punto for the world ahaaa! even if its a pain in the arse at times ;)

Guys i've been in a job since 2009, so theres no saying i don't have a job! I paid for the car , tax, battery, and now the insurance so anyone thinking im livving off mammy and daddy think again, because i work hard for my money...

I'm only a new driver, those who are flaming me for affecting their premiums stop, i'm new and im just driving normally, not like some boy racer like some obviously think....

AND AS I'VE SAID - My mam has actually driven the car more than me so far.... Thus making the insurance valid, this is the only car where she is main driver, while my dad has the other 2 cars and motorbike... So give me a break please, i'm not doing anything wrong....

Key words there are HAS and SO FAR. Will she have driven the car the most in 6 months time? Your insurance is NOT valid. Do yourself a favour and sort it.

To be honest, we aren't going to change his mind. We'll just have to wait to say 'told you so'.

Wonder what the consequences are for your parents for allowing fronting.

Why not just add 20 years to your age, I mean its not like you need to provide a birth certificate is it.
