From December of this year insurance companies will no longer be able to charge males more or females less simply based on their gender.

Insurance companies have reported that females under 26 insurance could increase by up to 25%!!

I currently pay £1200 insurance - there is absolutely no way I would pay £1500 I'd rather sell my car.

Males should reduce by around 8%.

Is this really fair considering statistically males do have more accidents?

they don't they just have to report more, its claims that they have more of so both male and female should both be getting bigger ncd instead of 1 subsidising the other pre accident

Edited for you dave ;)

I dont like this petty interference from Brussels...

I don't think young male drivers have more accidents than female drivers, I think they are evenly weighted.
IMO, women tend to be rather more cautious drivers - whereas men tend to be rather more sure of their abilities (or presumed abilities). Like the young males who floor it everywhere & insist on doing the stupid overtakes etc. They tend to get away with it most of the time as other drivers end up taking evasive action to avoid the accident.
So bearing this in mind, many of the accidents involving women tend to be minor scratches and scrapes - the sort of thing where people would far sooner pay for the work to be done at a local bodyshop as it's cheaper than going through insurance.
Whereas the accidents the young male drivers get involved with tend to be higher speed stuff - and so greater damage. Of course, the victim isn't going to accept a cheapo repair job so it has to go through insurance. There are instances where no other vehicles are involved & I've seen many a car sat on a driveway where the owners are going to do the work themselves. The worrying thing is, one has to wonder at the roadworthyness of these cars once they have been put back together.

all depends on the drivers, ive done a daft thing or two but nothing major few prangs on the car and no notes

where as my sister who some may know rolled her punto, got another car crashed it into another car and still payed less then me!

pfft
