Well it's that time of the year again, renewing the car insurance, well so i thought until i get a letter from my insurance company saying they cant re-insure me!?!?!?!?!? so i did some searching on the usual websites, gocompare confused etc, and the cheapest quote i can find for a 1.6 02 plate dynamic and an over 25 year old who's got 6 years no claims is........ £750!!!!

i know premiums go up but thats an increase of £400 from what i paid last year!! and an increase of £511 on what i paid two years ago!!!

anyone know of any cheaper insurers??

:bang: That is crazy!

I know people who have got cheep insurance through Adrian Flux but have also heard that they can be a bit of a pain in the ass if you have to make a claim.

Plus they are quite accomodating for mods if you have anything do to the car.

Best of luck (y)

what would that do with my no claims though?? it bullsh&t how can it possibly go up from £239 two years ago to over £700!!!!!!!! will try chris knott when its closer to my renewal date,

Try and get everyone on the same policy. I am 40 and for me its 435 if I go it alone for a 2002 jtd. Full no clams and no acc or convictions. Me and the other half use admiral. She has a 1 yr old car and for both together on a multi policy its 400 so not that bad at all.

Have you not understood what has happened these past few years in the insurance market? I am 38 and never claimed yet my insurance premium has increased...

Adding another named driver tends to bring the premium down, due to risk mitigation. Try it :) Why would it even affect your no claims

I m bricking it when mine needs renewing I'm 21 with what will be 4 years no claims touch wood quick on a stilo 02 1.2

adding another driver made very little difference, i'll try the forum insurers in a few days see what they can offer.

Tried Chris Knott, the forum insurers?

This thread needs to be moved to the Insurance section :)

treid chris knott today, cant compete with the quotes ive been getting of around £700, was going to leave it on the road uninsured and not drive or reinsure it till i needed it but heard on the radio today that there brigning a new law in so that your car has to be taxed AND insured just to have it parked on the road. joke!

I can't see anything wrong with it being insured on a public road, parked or otherwise.

dont u mean uninsured?? I dont use my car much so i was gonna leave it un-insured until i really need it, but with them bringing this new law in to crack down on uninsured drivers i can either sell it or over pay for something that i aint using that much at the mo. think i know which one im leaning towards doing.........

Law already states it has to be insured and taxed to be parked on the road. New law is regarding having uninsured taxed cars parked on private land.

You can currently do that, but the law will be it either has to be taxed and insured or If you cancel insurance the car then needs to be SORN. Ie can't be left taxed without insurance be it parked on private land or not.

i didnt mean there was anything wrong with having to have it insured on a public road,i may have mis wrote it but my argument was i didnt want to spend over £700 for insurance on a car that im rarely using atm just for it to sit there on the roadside.

and i was under the impression that a car only had to be taxed to be left parked on the roadside?? didnt know it had to be insured too. and as there is no room on the driveway to park it i cant really declare it sorn. plus it would just sit there for an unknown duration losing money, so might just sell it now.......

Nope, been against the law since before the beginning of time, on basis if its parked dangerously and causes and accident your liable, and will need 3rd party insurance cover as a minimum ;)

well its a good job i dont just listen to my mates, because by the sounds of it they know feck all about the law, they all told me the opposite lol. ah well think it's time to say goodbye to the faithful stilo, probably post an ad on here first see if i get any interest.
