Re: help with first insurance

£2750 sounds about right if I'm honest, especially at the moment as insurance prices are generally on the rise (due to all these crash-for-cash schemes), the lowest new driver price I've seen was just under £2k for another new member but he could well be in a much safer area and may have parents he's able to add to his insurance.
Even though your parents don't drive, you can still add them as named drivers on your insurance. Before I passed my test my ex-partner added me as a named driver and I dropped her insurance by around £350.

Wouldn't they need a license to be put on the insurance?

Sadly insurance is going to hurt you, have you considered Pass Plus? Can save a fair bit doing it.

Best advice I can think of, do all the price comparison sites, and phone the top 3 of each one and see if they can beat the price, play them against each other.

Don't forget cashback sites!

I'm sure they must at least have provisionals, that's all I had.

Re: help with first insurance

awww im sorry yea the cheapest price without NCB for a first time driver who hasent done pass plus is about £2700

with me i phoned up diffrent ones, got my grandparent put on mine as a second driver and agreed to do pass plus which i start on friday

and i got it down to
£1790

that was on a fiat punto 1.2, 5 door 1999

but if u have no friends or mum or grand parents who can drive then u wont be able to get it much lower im sorry

also. don't let any insurance try and make u go as second driver if u find someone to do it with u coz its called fronting and like my insurance company told me if i had a crash while doing this i would suffer a lot

but you can be a named main driver and ur friend be a second driver so no one loses out

Re: help with first insurance

Ensliegh do a student boost scheme thingy.
its an 18 month insurance with 2 years No claims at the end.

How it works - First 6 months are without any no claims - i was quoted £1400 with pass plus (aged 17) in a 1.1L punto 55 s

After the first six months you get 1 years no claims - provided you dont make any claims

the next 12 months are calulated with 1 years no claims.

After the 18 months you are given 2 years no claims
