My insurance is up for renewal in a couple of months time, and because I like to be on top of these things, I have started looking about now. Using all the usual culprits I have generated some amazing quotes. This was one I found particularly good.

Anyone else got any that were as good as this??

Oh, and this was for me (24 (25 in Oct)), up to 10,000 miles with 1000 business miles, fully comprehensive policy, £200 voluntary excess, a group 12 car, with 7 years NCD, no points, parked off the road in a good postcode and one small incident about 3 years ago - which I settled myself and thus retained my NCD and did not cost the insurance company anything.

And now I think about it, when I tot up all my previous policies, insurance companies are about £8,000 better off from me in the last 6 years of driving. No matter how you cut it, that's hardly fair

I love how 75% of threads here on the insurance section are to moan about companies!
But does the insurer need to know about an incident that you settled yourself?

Wouldn't you think a 16 grand insurance quote is worth moaning about?

And yes, any incident technically has to be declared - such as if you have a prang in a work vehicle - you should still declare that incident on your personal policy. I wanted to settle privately, and thus keep the incident quiet, but the guy insisted on going through my insurance company. There's a much longer story to that, which feeds into my hatred of insurers, but I won't bore you with that
