Who's cheapest for a 17 year old to insure with?

Have you tried admiral/elephant? alot of my searches come up with silly prices yet theres is around 1170? Everyone else quotes around 2K

Online form wouldn't quote, phoned up they said around £5000!!

Im in the exact same situation.. same age same car.
Please could somebody inbox me some advice as im going out very shortly.
Thanks.

I've just paid for insurance £1999 Fully Comp, both parents on, £400 excess for me, £150 excess for parents, Social, Domestic, Pleasure Including Commuting.

Personally I thought that was as low as i was going to get, nearest quote was over £3000!(n)

It's a deal that runs out on Friday (I think), See this post/thread for more info.

this may help :)

am 19 female with a 1. sei but its my first year and diamond covered me for £1260 fully comp 10 months, because am on a bonus accelerator plus, which might be worth you getting.

your insured for just 10 months but get 1 years no claims, given there are no claims :p

just work out if it works cheaper for you, as they put the 10 month prices up slightly, but you can then get to 1 years no claims quicker, also check that you will receive the certificate that's valid if you move to a different company after the first 10 months

hope i helped :)
xx

Might be worth checking that other compaines take this type of no claims, when I looked into it most didn't, so if they are expensive come your renewal you are stuck.

Ive alwyas found that tesco is generaly the cheepest ive used them for the past 4 years since i passed my test and not found anyone cheeper with both third party or fully comp.

Hope this helps.

Use moneysupermarket,Compare the market etc tell em its kept in a garage/kept at a secure work place car park and sometimes fully comp can be cheaper than tpft also raising your excess lowers the price to so if you know you aint gona claim then boost it up to £1000 ha ha BUT still depends on your area, job etc if your car has any mods dont EVER tell them 0_0

:bang:

One of the things I have noticed this year is the addition of 'commute'.
I've always had fully comp for years, this year when I phoned to question the stupid quote I was asked if I commute to work - I told them no, I only work about 3 miles away. They told me that is commuting! I tried to argue that a commute is something like travel to the next town - or a distance but no, it seems it is an extra for insurance companies to add onto the policy:eek: (the robbing b'stards). So mayube worth everyone having a look at the wording on the policy?

Anyhoo, my eldest passed his test a couple of months ago & he's desperate to get out and about in the wife's spare car - 52 plate 1.2l polo.
We value it at £2k and best price tpft is over £6k.
I think someone, somewhere is really taking the P.

I happen to agree with the insurance company - I have always seen 'commute' as being travelling between home and place of work, irrespective of distance.

Even if it 3 miles away, why would you call that Social, Domestic and Pleasure?

I remember commute being on my policies from when I started driving in 1989

Have fun trying to pay if you get sued for permanently disabling somebody because your insurance won't pay out because you didn't declare your mods.

Was a young women in the news recently who got paralysed from the neck down at 16, can finally communicate and move one of her arms at 20. Just got a £17 million pay out from the insurance of the person who crashed into them.

BBC News (2010/10/12)

`… insurance costs are being blamed on another surge in claims for injuries sustained in accidents. “If you have an accident which leaves someone disabled, the claim can be up to £15m,” said Simon Douglas, director of insurance at the AA. “Young men are twice as likely to be involved in these accidents than young women.” '

Cheapest ways are:

- Don't pay for car insurance at all and just pay the £200 fine and take the 6 points on the chin. Hand over your car to police when caught.
.

OR

- Leave college for a full time job stacking shelves or flipping burgers and spend your ENTIRE monthly wage on car insurance.

- Get parents to drop you off.

And don't forget losing your license if you've just got it within 2 years.
