1st car, a Mini Cooper, £65 WIN.
Insurance 3rd party, fire & theft, £35 WIN.
All car DIY servicing & repairs were a DIY cinch WIN.
Loads less traffic back then WIN.
Road tax almost nowt then WIN.

:D We really DID have it all back then lads... (y)

Yeah but back then wasn't £35 ALOT more than what it is now?
And, what ever floats your boat matey. But we'll see what is invented in a few 20/30/40 years then compare :p

Loads of people had minis back then my parents had loads of different ones, mini was gunna be my project car but then this idiot took my deposit he sold it to someone else, so i could be bothered anymore. But cars are alot better now & faster :)

Its a comparable thing... back then a Mini Cooper was quick by the normal standards, anything quicker was a lot more money or weighed 2 - 3 tons lol!

Yes cars are more reliable, and quicker, but much MUCH more expensive to buy, run, own AND repair.

 You'll be the oldie Silver Surfer by then though with luck! :D

Nah £35 a year represented 2 weeks wages for me thats all!

You got ellectric cars to look forward to lol... only Milk Floats were that bad back then... and before any smart ar$e points out the performance of some leccy cars... the Green brigade tree huggers will see performance limitaions to "save the planet".

These kind of Arguments all come down to Asbestos. You oldies were exposed to it a lot more than us little toerags :p

 :shakehead: Discussion Stu...

I personally think its all the drugs in the water we drink, wasnt any back then... maybe a dusting of DDT... but not all the shlte that finds its way into modern water courses... I like young folks, I like the verve (not the Band, they came along later!) & the enthusiasm most have.
They got a tough world to grow into, but I'm sure they'll be fine... including you.

Dont doubt yourself Stu... (y)
