My sister is 17 and has just passed her driving test the other day. As a present she has a 2001 "51" Seicento 1.1 SX model in metallic blue. Now, I've been helping her look for insurance, but all the companies seem to be charging more than we paid for the car, does anyone know of anywhere that a good deal may be lingering, waiting for us to snap up?

An insurance company that charged less than £700 would be preferable...

I'm also feeling rather unwell (flu or something) and am getting headaches and tired of using comparison websites and/or ringing round insurance companies only to be practically ripped off... Please help!! :)

Will be very lucky getting insurance for less than £700 I would think. Lot of new drivers pay more than the car is worth.

Best thing I can think of is, do all the comparison sites, see who is the cheapest and phone them up and see if its any cheaper.

Another option is to wait until shes 18 (I saved around £1000, but only had to wait a few weeks between getting a car and being 18).

Also Pass Plus, very good idea, I saved around £400 with this.

Last idea I can think of, is put her on as a named driver, until she is 18...but it does mean she wont be able to drive the car the most (Look up 'Fronting' for more information).

Fortis have done it for £600 and something which is excellent!
