So

I was due to start tonight doing pizza delivery.

Im with Ecar and couple of nights ago i log on to ammend my policy and change it to "business use class 1"

with wording :
Business use (Class 1) will allow all drivers to use the car for private use and to commute to a permanent place of work or study. The policyholder and/or spouse may also use the car in connection with his/her business or profession
it clearly states that i can use the car in connection to my profession, so if 2 nights a week my profession is a take away delivery driver then surely i am covered.

It shows these as not being covered :
Hiring
Racing
Competitions
Track days
Rallies or trials (other than road safety rallies or treasure hunts)
Commercial travelling
Carrying of passengers for hire and reward
Any purpose in connection with the motor trade
so you can understand my anoyance today when my insurance policy took effect and was updated so i could view my certificate and low and behold in the exclusions! take away delivery!!!

So i just paid to increase my policy only to be told after i paid for it that i cant still delivery pizza.

its only a blooming few hours a week couple of nights !!

so, i need to know, WHAT companies will insure, i have 1 years NCD.

Im looking for insurance to take out in the next couple of days and cancel the **** with ecar.

Please help, google isnt being much help.

Tell the Pizza place to fcuk off they have to mirror your insurance whilst you are at work, if not go to Pizza Hut because they do.
By mirror they will cover Fully comp if you are fully comp already of TPFT is you are TPFT (y)

Hey MEP

Will be Domino's

Ive got a full time job, but hey we all love money! and im prepared to work for it.

Ecar unfortunatly doesnt have telephone, ive emailed them last night but they didnt get back to me today.

because when i went through to increase my cover to cover business use.the following was noted:

Business use (Class 1) will allow all drivers to use the car for private use and to commute to a permanent place of work or study. The policyholder and/or spouse may also use the car in connection with his/her business or profession

Having no mention to take away delivering. so i bought it. only for the policy to take effect, and it then be included in the exclusions.

so in my email to ecar i made them aware its not clear enough when upgrading your policy.

ive just got off the phone with some phone broker company that bell put me through and he said none of the companies in their list would insure me for pizza delivery.

wtf? do these drivers have no insurance?

just phone adrian flux, they wouldnt be able to help.

it was call connect / connections that i spoke to a min ago, the lady at adrian flux said she could transfer me through to them but they have already said no one there would insure for pizza delivery.

even though im not a student.. i thought pizza delivery was supposed to be the best job for a student lol, its bloody impossible to find insurance

i just phoned one place
they said i need business use class 1
but the product in the car would not be insured
but i would be insured fro driving to one house to another.

does that sound right? he quoted me 819quid when i can get the same cover for about 440 quid.

Is that not what your doing when delivering

ok cool

So i dont need to worry bout anything?

Im popping up there tonight so will chat to the manager then.

as for mopeds ... i value my life plus they dont have any, drivers supply their own vehicles.

Occasional Business use insurance - drivers only

If you make a delivery at any time you will need to have appropriate and valid insurance to do so. All insurance claim excesses will be your responsibility and you will be liable for the cost to the company. you should refer to the employee handbook which outlines the circumstances where this would apply and the procedures to be followed to reclaim the costs involved.

Taken from my contract im looking at signing. seems they dont mirror your current insurance?

Ok then tell them to stuff it and go to Pizza Hut or something. The money that you get for each delivery will barely cover the cost of the petrol, let alone the wear and tear or constant short journeys. Its all well and good having a few extra quid in your pocket but when you have to change your tyres every month, wear out clutch, gearbox, oil etc etc quicker you will be Kicking yourself when the Hefty bills start to come through. Then the fact that you will be significantly more likely to have a fault prang. Trust me i have been there done that :bang:
