Hi. I'm 17 and wanting to insure my car.
The cheapest I can get is £650 with quinn but then it goes up to £3200 when I pass which is ridiculas.
Is there anyway I can get it cheaper, do you know anyother companies that are cheap on proviosnal and only go up a little when passed?

My Dad won't let me go on his insurance as he has never had an accident in his 40 years of driving :(
Can I possibly go on his insurance with his no claims protected?
How does this work?

I'm relaly wanting to get on the road but it's holding me back so badly! :(

Cheers

simliar to me, no way my dad was ever letting me on his!
i went with direct line in the end! paid £1038 fully comp :)
and im 18 :(

quinn seemed to give good quotes but as soon as i passed and looked for a quote they were higher then say a few months before! guess it depends on when the policy is taken out etc?

No they wont loose their ncb. - if you are a named driver on a policy then you dont earn ncb on that policy

If they are a named driver on your policy it should bring it down because it means that someone who is more experienced driver will be using the car.

If both parents drive and clean license and a good few years NCB then it should bring it down.

I brought the cost of the policy down on Hs panda. Eventhough he has been driving longer than i have and has more NCB.....

It worth a try (y)

adrian flux.

when i was 17, confused.com was all 2.8k+ they done me at £1900 including fees for paying monthly.

that was on a 1998 sporting 16v punto with alloys, exhaust, tinted windows.

i would expect a 60s to be £1600ish, it would be for me anyway when i was 17.

you must phone them, and also say you are on a owners club (they will ask)

put your mum on as a named driver.... saved me near enough £500/600 on my 1st and 2nd car.... (y)

on the bravo it saved me only around £100ish.... but that is 2 tanks of fuel...

it might be a saving of more depending on circumstances... i put my dad on and it went up though so be careful!!

also do your pass plus (y) £150 saved me about double that :p

You are 17 and you done that to your car? Nice.

Anyway mate you know I am with Motaquote and paying £874 a year, I got it down from £2100 a year with eCar which was the cheapest before I went with Motaquote and had a tracker fitted.

Advise - stop modding your car, save the money to pay for your insurance!

Your a 17 year old boy, unless you were insane you knew when you first got a car that policies would be sky high, let alone after all your mods.
