P.s Not all of us are financially sound so it is hard to declair mods especially when you have to pay the rediculous amounts that we do (granted that may be self inflicted)

Don't have the money to insure the mod, don't do the mod until you do. There are a lot of things I don't have the money for so I save up until I do :)

:yeahthat: Have to agree with helz if you cant afford to pay the extra insurance you obviously wont be able to pay for a new car when the insurance refuse to pay out. Its all well and good using the idea that "its ok if i crash i'll swap the bits back over" but you could be guilty of committing Fraud and or Deception (lots of 3rd parties take photos at the sceine of the accident)... And what if god forbid you wound up been cut out of the car, the car ends up at a police impound and gets a good going over by the Police/ VOSA or your insurance company........

In all honestly im prepared to take the risk to a certain degree. I and most people do a lot more illegal things like speed in our cars how many of you actually stick to the speed limit, im sure most have driven after that 2nd pint at least once since laws tightened. I know that there will be people who dont apply to any of the above but that cant be a lot of us.

So Volxstu, its ok to break the "common sense" rule as well as the rules set out by insurers to protect us all, not to mention keep everyones insurance as low as possible? (I know, I know... its expensive)

But, I gotta agree with Helz, cant afford it dont do it.

Its a no-brainer, and I am sorry but with your attitude its you with no brain... just wait until you CAN fford it mate...

I always thought that if you don't declare the mods on a car and it needs repair after an accident then they just replacethe parts with factory fitted?

I have no mods on my car, got better things to spend the money on lol

My views may be immature but ive always modified cars and it just wasnt a done thing when i first started (to declaire anything). Clearly when i first started i didnt have the money to install things that would necceserily (however its spelt) change the insurance i just installed ice and put a few GT turbo parts on my R5.
Now days i can see why i should declaire a lot of things as i am fairly dramatically changing the car and how it works but, apart from upping the ICE allowance i have found no need to declaire anything, I only have an Induction kit in the Engine and when i get it mapped i doubt anybody is going to compare the software that is on there.
I have had a few accidents of many different natures and i do not feel that anything on or in the car will be picked up or cared about from the insurance. They dont seem to care what measures i take for security as i have a snap off steering wheel and despite the fact that i have no airbag there now they dont care they just said no discount and it wont put the premium up.
At the end of the day i could be doing a lot worse things like stealing cars driving without paying any insurance or worse driving a Vauxhal.
I have come a long way from when i was younger so im not going to let this issue make me loose any sleep.
Even though ur opinions are noted and i did listen to you all for the original thread question. And my god how lucky am i as i received a phonecall from the guy who was with me when i rolled my last car and i 4got the t**t was Suing me so i would have been in a lot of doo doo if i hadnt told my current insurance.

Don't worry Volxstu, I agree with you. I would have lied about the accident and I would have lied about any mod which I thought I were getting charged too much for.

Seems the forum has recruited some strange almost zombie like humans with no free will recently.

Never mind.
