I have been driving for a year and Ive just got my renewal quote and it comes at £1400. I drive a 1994 fiat punto 1.1 55s and i have 1 years no claims. The cover is TPFT. I was wondering if this is a good price and wer i could get a cheaper one? I also have 3 points for running a red light (which i didnt actually do!) Ive found one on confused.com for 1100 and ive told them about my conviction aswell is this good? I havn't got a clue lol  ( btw the insurance company im with now is NIG Sovereign).

How did you end up with 3 points for something you didn't do? Did someone ask you to take the points for them because they already have 9 points? If not why haven't you challenged it?

The cheapest quote I found was with Quinn Direct an that was £1134. It might be this dear because of my conviction or because I have only been driving for a year I don't know. I got the points in the first week of me passing my test my car cut out at the lights so i started it up again and then and drove on. The light was still on green and must of changed just as i moved of, It was dark and pouring down with rain and the police officer got it wrong either that or he was just being a c*nt. I didnt take it to court because Iwoudn't of won It would be my word against his and i coudn't be bothered with the hassle. My renewal quote for my insuarance is £1400 and ive found one for £1100 so Im not to dissapointed. :)

I also have a pass plus certificate but i went on that comparethemarket.com and they didnt ask if i had this. Is there any companys that i can get a cheaper quote with and i can state i have a pass pluss certifacate with?

Would I still get a quote for the same price as i found online if i phoned them? Does anybody know if quinn direct knock money off for a pass plus certificate?

the online service isnt some magic portal to cheaper insurance.
its a piece of software.
it can only be written with certain perameters, the human on the phone can do more.
as ive said if you need cheaper quotes then you need to phone them.most will be able to lower the cost plus you can jhaggle between companies

That seems really expensive. Im 20, been driving 18 months, no NCB and my insurance on my Grande Punto 1.9 Sporting is only £2k, i say only, lol.

As far as i was aware 3 points doesnt effect your insurance, i could be wrong though.

the pass plus gives you 1 a discount equal to 1 year no claims bonus, however once you have 1 years no claims bonus the pass plus is worthless and wont make any difference. the pass plus scheme is a bit of scam but in theory you saved more than it cost in your first year of insurance.

Sounds expensive! Maybe you live in a high risk post code?

Like others have said - PHONE THEM!

My 1st years insurance was with CIS (COOP) they were good for first timers.

God I'm glad I have full NCD (£200 per year for my car) (£420 for my 240bhp modded Leon)

That is ridiculous money even with three points, try admiral.co.uk They are doing mine and thats £800 no claims discount of zero years and modifications!!! Anything over a thousand in my opinion is silly money for a 1.1.

I work for an insurance company and if you have 0 no claims bonus it is your first policy, you passed in the last 2 years and you have a certificate to prove you have it you can get up to 30% off.
