Ive tried 'Gimp',didnt have a clue what i were doin lol also tried 'Tint' but couldnt get that to work, was showing half an half :bang:
im not a comp geek hence me not having photoshop on my comp, havnt got a clue how to use it lol

Well I haven't tried GIMP, but here's how I'd do it quickly in Photoshop....

Firstly, duplicate your image into a new layer (I assume GIMP has layers?)....

Then desaturate this layer (make Black and White)

Then mask/erase the parts of this layer that you want coloured, allowing the original image to 'show through'....

:)

I used to use Paint Shop Pro to do it. It had a 'Magic Wand' (I think that's what it was called) which allowed freehand selection of an area, so I'd draw around the car, then invert the selection so that everything else was selected, and then do as TBP said and desaturate to make it black and white.
