Hi all

I hope this is in the correct place, couldn't think of where else to put it.

Now I know the basic's of video editing but need to know a few more things.

I've recently brought an in car video recorder (t-eye) and might over time post a few driving video's on youtube. Because this unit is designed to be used as legal evidence if need be it superimposes on videos the car's reg number and speed etc.

Now I want to know what software I can use to edit these out. I'm not wanting anything fancy that will make it look like they're not there, just something to block it (when peoples faces or numberplates are blocked on police camera action etc).

What are these video affects/edits called, and is there any free software out there that will do it? I know windows movie maker dosen't do it and neither do a few other pieces of software that I have.

Many thanks. Jon. (y)

I'm not sure if its possible, and I think you need a Mac for it, but iMovie (And I also dont believe its free). There is another one that a mate has used when we made our films at college, but hes not online at the moment so cant get hold of him to ask. When I see him online I'll find out what it was.

That would be apprechiated (sp?), Thanks (y)

It's £55 as part of iLife (or included with a Mac), but it's Mac only, so as you mentioned WIndows MovieMaker, I'm guessing you're a Windows user!
For Windows, Pinnacle Studio Plus will do it. £70.

Yep. Pinnacle it is then, I've already got a fair bit of their software, which I think I checked

Will have a look into it.

Thanks (y)

And it don't have it.

Any one with anymore idea's

Don't most video editing software have subtitle facilities? Couldn't you just place some blocks of text over the information you wish to obscure?

Also, I would've thought that most video editing software would have some kind of facility to do what you require, whether it be a PC or mac.

Edit: Adobe Premier can do it:

As can Pinnacle Studio:

Do a search on the 'net and loads of other suggestions come up (y)
