I've seen a sony handycam on e-bay thats just up the road from me. The model number in the add is for an amazing top end spec camera, but the price is, well its less than £50. Also, I have been looking for this particular model before, but couldn't afford it, so I know what this camera looks like, and this one looks nothing like it.
I told the sell this and asked if there were any stickers on it with model number. He replied with the same model number on the sticker underneath, and he gave me a serial number.
But its so blatantly NOT that camera. So I need to track down what hes got. He has given me the serial number, but a google doesn't bring anything up. I am still tempted to get the camera at that price, but I really want to know what actual model I'm buying.

So, anyone work in a Sony store that can search on this serial number and tell me what model it is from that?

So, he thinks its a DCR - PC 350 which is a nice camera and should be a few hundred quid. But the photo is NOT that camera.

Can anyone help? (while I currently look at all the sony handycams on ebay until I find one that looks like this one)

If it's just up the road from you, why not ask to go round and have a look? It could be a genuine mistake on the seller's part, or it could be a scam.

Either that, or offer to pay cash on collection. If you turn up and it's been misdescribed, walk away.

Found out that its some obscure lower spec model that Sony did for the Spanish (?) only market, but they gave it the exact same model code as a worldwide top range camera.

So decided I didn't want it.
