Koa, was in Comet today and spotted the Sony for ~$439 with lens and usual starter kit stuff. Seems quite good but I'm sure it can be beaten.
Hmm, very tempting. My daughter wants to buy herself a new HD tele tomorrow so I'll go and take a look at that. Thanks for the info Fuzzy, I really appreciate it

koa you'll find nikon and fuji keep good tabs on their retailers, so you will find that a little independant retailer will have same prices, if not the most upto date prices than the bigger chains, who like comet hold out on the 'old' (more) pricing scheme for as long as poss
warrenty's also important, as with comet/currys/dixons they send it off to the factory approved inspector/damage control lot, and it can take months. smaller retailers tend to either examine it themself, or give you a fresh one till the other is sorted out, well IME anyways

How do you find the Fuji S9600 ?
I am very tempted with this camera because of the 30fps AVI's as well as the image quality for the price.

My S5500 does it and it's such a convenient feature and saves taking two cameras out everywhere you go.
My only problem is if that camera has enough quality with the picture side of things compared to a D40 for example.
