Idea 1.4 16v Front and rear central locking on driver's side does not work

Good day fellow Fiat fans,

I would like to ask you a question about our fiat idea. On the driver's side of the car, the central locking no longer works. This is on both the front door and the back door. I can hear a relay click in the front door but it won't open or close. Do you have any idea what this could be causing the front and rear doors to stop functioning at the same time?

Thank you very much!

Re: Idea 1.4 16v Front and rear central locking on driver's side does not work

thanks for your response! i have checked the fuses and replaced the central locking fuses but they are all good.

The left front door and the back door do not work on the remote control. The right front and back doors do open on the remote control. I can open the left front door manually with the key via the left front door and then open the right doors, but the left rear door will not open.

I do hear a click (which looks like a relay) in the left door when i use the central lock but nothing happends on the left side.

manually opening the left door will work, but unfortunately not closing

Thanks for thinking along. Greetings from Huizen

Have you checked to see if the main wiring connection on the front door is fully seated and locked. Might have worked loose so no harm in unplugging it cleaning the connections and then plugging it back in.

Thank you very much for your response. I unplugged it, cleaned it and reconnected the connector. Unfortunately this didn't help. The strange thing is that both doors on the left side don't work.

Hi.. had something like this a long while ago..
It could be that the body computer needs a reset - disconect the batery..leave it for some time(i left it for 1 hour..if i remember right..or more??) - you can lock the doors with the key - in the doors - look at the instructions..
After that, all went back to normal with my car..
Greatings..

This may sound daft, but get some one to operate the key and give the door handle a sharp slap at the same time. This worked for me on a seat. On google it showed the key in the lock being given a tap with a rubber mallet for the front door stuck. On that car the drivers door is a master and is required to have the correct handed lock for the system to work. It carries an extra microswitch. If its a stuck lock a sharp slap may move it. If it does, change the lock straight away as you may not get a second chance to open the door so easily.

On door locks I wasted a lot of money buying pattern parts off eBay that failed to work. I strongly recommend a proper Fiat lock if you change to avoid doing the job more than once.

Re: Idea 1.4 16v Front and rear central locking on driver's side does not work

@magijamarko: Thank you for your message. I disconnected the negative terminal of the battery and let it go for a while. Just reconnected but the problem persists. I have read the idea with a fiat scanner but there are no error codes to be found either.

I'm afraid there's nothing for it but to open the whole door. Unfortunately, it is closed with a metal plate and not, as is often the case, with a kind of insulating cloth. But the front door can't have anything to do with the back door, can it? Do you have any other suggestions as to why I might not have to open the whole door?

@ The panda Nut: thanks for your tip, i'll try that!
Update: I've tried hitting the lock while using the key, but unfortunately the problem persists.

Re: Idea 1.4 16v Front and rear central locking on driver's side does not work

I checked and measured all the fuses in the fuse box on the inside of the car and they were all good. To be on the safe side, also replace the fuses that have to do with the central lock, but unfortunately it doesn't solve anything. I have removed the door panel but there is a metal plate behind it that is attached with pop rivets it seems? Do any of you know how I can safely remove the metal panel so I can get to the lock? Or there is another way, unfortunately I do not come across that instruction on the elearn of fiat. thanks
