The power windows on our 2004 Idea have gone funny ....when I press open on the drivers side ...both front windows open ....I can only close the passenger side by reaching across and pressing the close button ....I can only close the drivers side by wiggling the driver side button and then sometimes the passenger window opens again ....the rear windows don't go up and down at all ..... I think I need to pull the whole switch assembly out and have a poke about ...any clues as to how I get it off the drivers door ? I have removed the two screws but it still seems to be fixed by something ....do I need to be heavy handed ...or is there a kinder method of removing it ? thanks...

Check for fractured wires at the door hinges.. that'll give weird results

Sounds like a plan ...Before I take a stanley knife to it how do I get in to this ?

UP DATE ... ...I don't know what I did ...I pulled it all to bits brushed all the dust out with stiff paint brush ...squirted a bit of contact cleaner in the pluggy in bits, nothing looked out of order apart from the actual rocking buttons on the switches they do look like they have had it ....I put it all back together ...offered up a small prayer to the great god FIAT ...and much to my surprise ...the windows go up and down ...and the mirror tilting thing works as well ...so I'm pleased ...

Did you disconnect the battery?

Either way.. the 'power down' might have reset something

No I did not dis -connect the battery ... I just worked out how the plug thing on the door pilar unplugged .... (you have to pull up the grey plastic inverted u shaped part)... and it unplugs ... very easy when you know how ....I am always scared of breaking things like this ....But this time the gods were with me ....
