Goodday everyone,

I am new to the forum so I hope the post was done correctly. I own a Fiat Idea 1.4 16v (manual gearbox) from 2005. Now I want to replace the gearbox oil and I ordered oil a few days ago. The manual indicates Tutela Car ZC 75 synth 75w80 gl-5, which cannot be ordered in the Netherlands. In the the later Idea manual fiat gifs the reference: 9.55550-MX3

So I ordered this oil:
Eurol MTF 75W-85 FE GL5

MTF 75W85 FE GL5
API GL-5, incl Limited Slip
MB 235.7 / 235.15
FIAT/ALFA ROMEO/LANCIA 9.55550-MX 3

Can I use it? there are quite a few conflicting stories about the use of gl-5 oil, and some people say
it is better to use gl4 which is also mentioned in the later manuals of fiat.

Thanks in advance.

Greeting John

Welcome Jhuis. The oil you have bought looks to be virtually the same specification as the Tutela apart from slightly wider viscosity range which should give more protection if anything. Tutela Synth is GL5 according to data sheet so I can't see a problem. Surprising you can't order the Tutela in your country. I've just bought some for my own Idea oil change and it's usually us in the UK who have more trouble getting parts etc. for our Fiats!

Hello Iggy64, Thank you very much for your response. Yes, unfortunately it is very difficult in the Netherlands to purchase Tutela and other petronas products. Fortunately, parts are readily available. I am going to change the gearbox oil as soon as possible.:) The Idea: a great car, spacious, solid and easy to maintain for a novice hobbyist. Thanks
