hi all

my wife was driving her fiat idea to work when all of a sudden the lights go out and all the dash lights went out and the clock resets itself but the car was still running with no lost of power, car works fine now, was abit freaky, what can this be, ive just put a new battery in it 2 weeks ago, but last week, i was trying to fix the horn, by replacing it but still does not work, i noticed from the battery cable, there was a hoop, which am am guessing is a earth, it went behind the horn bracket, could ive not tighten it up properly. will not see the car until she back, so i thought ill try and get some info about this problem and sort it tomorrow

Same engine as mine then, from what you've described it does sound like an earth problem.

As regards the horn not working have you checked the F10 fuse in the engine compartment fuse box as that is for the Horn (15amp).

morning mate, ive just checked it out and i cant find anything loose from when i was fixing the horn last week, ive tryed the fused and the horn still dont work so am guessing there a brake in the wire somewhere

we had similar on our panda,

conked outside our FIAT specialist..they couldn't find a fault..,

so I fitted a new battery - never happened again..??

we just put a new battery in it, 2 weeks ago but it happen after the new battery was fitted

still got the old one..?

happend another 2 times scene ive started this post, i still have the old battery but its barely started the car in the cold

Then look up the earth points and check each one, does sound like either a Battery problem or an earth problem.

Make sure the battery connection / terminals are nice and tight. Had similar on my Stilo once, was a loose lead

will have a look at the weekend, the battery if brand new

i cant get that e learner to work, its happen ones again, as soon as she pulled off, it soulden be a battery problem as its brand new, it only started to happening scene i started playing around with the horn, which i did noticed when i was plugging the wires into the horn, i noticed the odd little spark coming from them wires
