Hey,

I have recently got a Fiat Idea, Dynamic, 56 Plate, Automatic. I love the car, the only thing that is wrong with it is the reverse lights don't come on when reverse is selected and neither do the parking sensors. the previous owner said that it it just the reverse switch that needs replacing, which he got but never fitted. Has any one any idea where about it goes. I have Googled it and the diagrams that have come up haven't been very clear. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Jakob

I have/had the same problem exactly. I bought a reverse switch and then discovered that on a Dualogic the switch is not used! I can't remember where I got it from but somewhere on the internet is a huge technical manual in PDF format for the Dualogic that makes it clear that the signal for the reverse light (and of course the sensors) is done internally, i..e the normal switch as used on a manual is not used.

I seem to have fixed mine by removing the rear light clusters and cleaning the contacts and giving them a squirt of WD40.

EDIT. Looking at the ePer diagram maybe I'm totally mistaken in my above comments! I am going to investigate further!

Hey Tigershoot,

Thanks for the help, I will give it a go when i get chance. did you remove both of the lights and clean both of them??

thank,
Jakob

You don't need to remove the lights like you do on a Grande Punto. On an idea, remove the small panels on each side of the boot interior and remove the white electric connectors and clean them.

Having said that my reversing lights are not switching on again, hence the reason that I tried so hard today to fit the reverse switch.

Note that on the nearside of the boot you can see the control unit for the parking sensors - it's a small black box. It might be worth seeing if you can clean those contacts too.
