I need to renew a seal which is located in a square housing at the gearbox end of the LH drive shaft. To do so, having removed all ancillary components, I have to withdraw the splined hub.
My CD manual simply says " remove hub using a special lever" - does anyone know the configuration of said lever, please? Careful / gentle use of a good quality standard lever is not working.

The reason it was difficult to remove the hub was due to the spring circlip at the end of the splines. Once I applied more pressure it popped out. On examination, there didn't seem to be any damage to either the seal or the O ring in the flange, but I renewed it anyway. Would have been stupid not to do so!
All back together, road tested ok and now left to stand to see if there is any oil escaping. Ominously, during the course of the job I noticed a drip from the seal on the other side:( am hoping that it was due to the "pumping" effect when I inserted the hub and that the car was tipped over towards that side.
Even more ominous was that while it was exposed, I was able to move the centre of the roller bearing up and down, and, once the hub was inserted, the play was apparent, so this may contribute to the original leak. Will soon find out!
