Hi everyone,

I can't open my Idea's fifth (trunk) door. When I press the button on the door, it makes a sound like if it tried to open but stays closed. I have to get inside, stick my fingers into the mechanism and open it from there.

Did something like this happen to anyone of you? Do you have an idea about what to do with it? Thanks

To open the hatchback you can use the backup release, if you look in the rear window you will see a bit of removable plastic on the righthand side take this out and its attached to a cord so you can get in.

Not had this problem on the idea but had it on the mondeo, it was a piece of the mechanism had snapped and the lock had jammed.

Hiya, has the battery been disconnected at all? Sometimes that stops the hatch from opening! you can try to lock the doors and unlock then try again. or try using the lower button on the remote (press and hold for few seconds) that opens the hatch also.

After few weeks it just started to work again Maybe it was just wet or something...

Thanks for your reply from 2011 about trunk not opening. I had just had the battery replaced. Your tip helped me out in April, 2015!
