Can any one help me sorting out my Fiat IDEA electric windows problem as follow:


Problem with Passenger side Window

Press down button on passenger door, Window's glass go down
Press UP button on passenger side window, Window's glass don't go up

Press down button on Driver side door (for Passenger side window), Button on Passenger side door flash and window glass work perfect

Press UP button on Driver side door, Button on Passanger side door will flash but window's glass does not go up

I have tested the motor with 12V battery charger motor works fine its go up and down, I also have checked wire on window winder bar and its also perfect

Any IDEA any one:bang:

There won't be many submissions on the IDEA as there are not that many owners..................

I have a 1.4 petrol, but can't offer any help here really!, but have you checked the fuses?
I'll check mine in the morning, and see how many fuses cover the window lifters etc.

I also have the same problem both windows will go down but not up. I've also checked the motor like you and the motor seems to be working fine. I've also checked the fuses but they are ok. This really is rather irritating... No drive throughs for me!
I'm wondering if it's something to do with a relay switch but I don't know which one is for the electric windows.

Hopefully someone out there can help us.

Hmm, seems to be a common problem.

I havent tried it but does the car have 'full closure', e.g when you press and hold lock it will close the windows?
i will try and grab the manuals out of ours before it leaves in the morning to see what it says.

I assume the window switches go into the body controller, this then sends the signal to either a door controller or a window relay. Will also have a look in other service info i have for schematics.

does any signal get to the window motor when you press raise?
i am also working on getting a copy of fiatecuscan working but can only connect to the engine so far. This will take longer to sort as i am flat out with work at the moment.

there is power as far as the motor,but alas the motor does not respond,the motor is being looked at tomorrow (Wednesday 25th may) by a garage mechanic,if and when resolved I will report findings on this site.
have tried holding "lock" on key but nothing happens (if I am doing it correctly ?) this system is totally new to me.

If you have a live & a earth at a motor and it does not work, it's faulty! (or mechanically jammed)

I tested motor across battery it worked,reversed test cables it ran in reverse ,fitted motor to window electrical connection would only work in downward direction ,garage mechanic can not understand why ?
have also been told by a fiat dealer it could be the IDU CONTROLLER (what ever that is and where ever it is ?)
any suggestions'

you checked/tested the switch? (had one like this the other week)

did changing the switch solve the problem (passenger side or drivers).
p.s. have purchased a NEW motor,same problem which proves that both motors are working also had to buy a window mechanism as the original one was tangled.:bang:
