the missus has just come home from shopping and when she tried to lock it with the fob it woul;dn't do anything. as i am a man, i simply thought that if I did it that it would magically work. NO! (bugger) i tried many times and still didn't do anything. next test. i thought i would change the battery in the fob but still no better(light flashes on the fob). when i try to manually enter the key and turn it, nothing still. so i got in the car and pressed the console lock button, nothing. i then noticed that the light on said button does flash when i press the fob button but as said, doesn't actually lock.
so i cannot lock my car at all with any means.

Sounds as if you have a blown fuse or lock problem,worth trying fuse first.(you can stil llock the car manually from inside & drivers door from key)

no sorry mate, it wont lock maually either with key or inside with console button. it seems that the unlock still works as you can hear it click each time you press it but no sound at all when pressing lock

so u cant lock it manually from inside the car at each door?

this might sound stupid but i cannot be fully sure but i am almost certain that with an Idea, there is only one lock button on the console and this doesn't lock it.
the only thing i can think it maybe is, would be if the electrical signal isn't getting to the lock as it may be physically broken inside the door and that would also explain why it wouldn't lock manually as well???

DOH!!!!
i sat in the car about to drive off to see if the auto lock would lock them. this meant that i was in it long enough to see that the initial test said that, wait for it,......the back door was open! of course when i closed it fully, low and behold, it locked.
i suppose when the missus asked if i had checked it, the automatic bloke response was "course i have you stupid bint, what do i look like? a fool?"

never mind, it was one of them days.

nice and roomy height wise but too narrow to be really classed as an MPV, even a mini MPV. overall very good though
