250 quid on Xplod stuff? No thanks :) I'd be fitting a Becker Mexico Pro for that sort of outlay :)

Got the wrong model name - it's the Grand Prix that's the current one - the Mexico Pro is the last model. But yep, the Grand Prix does both Bluetooth and iPod as well as sounding rather nice in the SQ department.

Bear in mind I haven't heard that Sony - it does have a good DAC looking at it (24 bit) but to me, that's the only real thing going for it over the Becker - although there is no mention of the DAC in the Becker, there are widely praised to be very good on the SQ side of things. They also have the advantage of looking OEM if you're after a subtle HU :)

Plus standard fit in porsche boxters (however they are spelt, i dont own one so dont care :p) will deffinatly have a look at the Grand Prix

i want to say its crap coz its sony, but thats actually quite a good head unit.
definately better than a becker grand prix in looks, and also sound when comparing the internal amps.

if you are going to run the speakers from the headunit, the sony has 4x52w while the becker has 4x30w. (not rms figures i know but the difference in rms is the same)

as far as bluetooth is concered, the becker hasnt even got a2dp, so the bluetooth straming isnt even cd quality, unlike the sony.

considering the becker costs more, and you wont be using it in the way it works best (using all 5 preouts for a true surround setup), the better deal for you would be the sony.

plus the sony's screen is lovely to watch, the becker is a bit too oem looking.

Power isn't the be all and end all of SQ (in fact far from it). Strictly speaking, it isn't the be all and end all of SPL either (although you generally need power to get real loud)

The reason why the Grand Prix has bluetooth is for a mobile not to stream music from it - what you think the CD player's for? :p

Could say the same for the Sony if you're running a passive 2 way front end - you only need 2 pairs of RCAs then.

That's the beauty of the Becker - not everyone goes for looks. Plus, it should mean that the money that wasn't spent on making it look 'pretty' went into the bit that matters the most - how it sounds.

Ah but you see the stilo looks good but somehow it isnt built quite to standard, so maybe the sony is spot on for the stilo :p
