Anybody out there know what Error 1 or SAFE then Error 1 means on AD182H2

any specific condition that brings up the error?

Thanks for answering. The brand is Grundig. Where do I start, sometimes radio works, sometimes works display on sound disappears, sometimes display lights no clock or station info, then sometimes SAFE or ERROR. Today following some advice I totally disconnected radio then reconnected everything worked, later tried radio got blank lit display then ERROR 1. Hope that makes some kind of sense.

I guess you're right. Can't find an answer, good enough excuse. Expect i'll be back asking you experts what radio to replace it with, still if the ashtrays full has been a good excuse to change the car in the past umm!!

As far as i know, "error" normally appears when the code has been entered incorrectly 3 times.
"Safe" should appear when it accepts the code...so going from Error to Safe and back to Error is somewhat confuzzling.
If you have the code, maybe try disconnecting battery, and enter the code when it asks for it?

Thanks for replying. Tried disconnecting twice. !st attempt radio & display eventually behaved, but failed on next start. 2nd attempt Blank illuminated display. When I do get a message on display its SAFE but no 1----, or ERROR 1. So I can't seem to re-enter the code. Seems to be a problem that nobody has previously encountered. Wonder if its worth all this hassle.
