The Devil, i presume because you've got these amps, that these are pretty good, can you give the low down for us. I noticed and couldn't believe my eyes <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> how cheap Car Audio Direct are selling them for !!!

Paul,

These Amps are excellent, and yes I got them from CarAudioDirect, they are looking after me with this install.

You can buy 2 of these amps and 'bridge' them into 1 output capable of 2,200w RMS @ 2 ohm.

let me know what sub you have/will be running, box sizes etc etc etc etc and i'll see if I can reccomend something to you.

I have to Change my Signature as I have replaced the 2 Rockford amps with a larger Directed amp for the fronts.

CarAudioDirect are one of the best companies i've dealt with, and i've dealt with a lot.

any more Q's post here or feel free to email me

Jamie,

Well a the moment i've got 2 Sony Xplod 10's hooked up to a meesly Kenny 729s.

This is ok and is currently supplying 150w per speaker @ 2ohm. Obviously i want something a bit more powerfull.

You can run the Kenny in bridged mode at 300w but only @ 4ohm so no good for 2speaker setup. Spoke the Kenwood and they suggested getting a 819 which is a mono amp, but can run at 2ohm, then i saw the Directed amp stuff.

Do you reckon a 250d will stand up to the job and give a good power supply to the subs ?

Also, the box i have is a ported one and is one complete box i.e. 2 subs, 2ports. Would there be any benefit if i reversed the subs ie the magnet facing outward instead of the magnet sitting inside the actual box ?

Cheers for the help

Ok... first of all.... I might sound drastic but sell your current amp and subs.

go to Car Audio Direct and buy a Directed 1100... or a 600 if your budget cant stretch to an 1100.

Then buy a single 12" sub, with a dual voice coil set up, 2 x 4ohm voice coils.. this means you can show the amp a 2ohm load

I'm not being nasty, i'm sure the Sony stuff doesnt sound too bad.... but you'd be suprised how simplifying things with very good quality stuff makes it sound a million times better.

and as for the reversing the subs, it'll alter the volumetric displacement of the box, so will alter the sound slighty. You wil also have to change the positive and negative wires around, altho this isnt an exact science. they might sound ok turned around and the wires kept the same, or swapped over (out of phase) - its all trial and error.

Jamie,

Ok cheers for the info. For the time being i may play with the subs ie reversing them etc and also save some money for your suggestion.
