Hi, can someone post a picture of the hole the stereo goes into on a mk1 punto?

I've just bought one (1998 60sx) with no stereo and although the wiring is fine (managed to wire a stereo up with no problems) it looks like someone has done butcher job on the hole and I can't see anyway securely fitting a stereo mounting bracket without screwing through the plastic surround around the hole.

Is there something vitally important I'm missing here?

you mean you cant fit a cage in the appeture?
or its too big?

Well except for the tiniest bit of lip on the mounting bracket which catches on the outside of the hole there is just nothing there to hold it in place.

(I wondered who would be the first to comment on my hole, I'll send you some pictures later and you can see how abused it's been )

The only cage I have is the one with the stereo itself, and I can't see anything to secure it to in that hole.

I know it's not the greatest picture (it was dark and I was using my camera phone) but literally if you can't see it, it's not there!

If anyone, could post a pic of what the mounting hole on their punto mk1 looks like before they fitted any kind of stereo, or fitting the mounting bracket for the stereo, then I would be so far in their debt I'd probably end up starting a whole new religion with them as the deity.

mine looked exactly like yours in my 75 you remove the cage from the stereo... slot it in, then push some of the pegs outwards.

but i can assure you, that yours is how it should be
