my pal has just bought a new head unit, and asked me how easy they are to fit? i had mine professionally fitted. he also has a GP just like myself. any help here will be greatly received!
thanks

Very easy - I'm surprised you've paid to have yours fitted! There should be 4 holes on the GP's HU which you can use a removal tool on. The rest is fairly straightforward :)

Once youve got the standard one out, all you then do is put the Facia in (i'm not sure which one the GP needs) then take the cage of the back of the new HU and put it in the hole, then use a screwdriver to push the slots down to lock it in to place.. plug your wiring harness in, pug it in to the back of the unit, half push the head unit in, test it, then push it all the way in...

Easy peesy. (y)

My record was in a ford fiesta... 3.5 minutes.. that includes getting my tools out, un packing the box, testing and tidying up afterwards (y):slayer:

when fitting the headunit we connected it all up by the two black bits and the aerial but we received no power from it? should it be hard wired and not just connected????

im just lost now
i got a GP and my aftermarket headunit isnt coming on

ive been told by some i can buy an adapter for it and then others saying the adapter doesnt work and i still need to swop live wires around?

please can you tell me though which one is the best solution and if i do have to swop lives around isnt this going to mess the cars CAN system up?

u do not need an adapter but when the guy from halfords fitted it for me in the end, as it was free fitting he had to swap two of the wires into the headunit to get it to work.

I had this on my Mk2.5 Punto.

If it is the same, you should find a Yellow cable with a fuse in it. Unplug the top part (going to the top of the ISO adapter), and plug in the red one and this is what worked for me.

I loved the fact i worked this out and my dealers spark couldn't work it out!!

If it is as stated, you swap the ignition live to battery (or the other way) and all done.

If i had the old car, i would have put up some pics for you.

Hi, someone here mentioned putting the new cage in before the headunit, does this really clip in on a punto MK1, i can't seem to see any clips behind the front, but i can't get the power and speaker cables off the back - don't want to pull by wires. I have a JVC that doesn't seem to be fitted properly, AFAIK the guy put the cage in already attached to the radio although JVC diagram looks different and it really isn't staying in. I understand i have to bend a clip with a screwdriver but the only one i see looks like it fixes the headunit to the cage not the cage to the car. As i can't get the plugs off at the moment i can't take it out fully to put the cage in before the unit and try again. The wires were sortof holding it in place before at the back but i moved them out of the way of the heatsink at the back of the radio (it has a mosfet amp in there somewhere)

ITS ACTUALLY PIMPS! I no nothing about cars and im such a girl and ive fitted all mine and my friends even if they didnt have iso connectors and needed wiring i managed it! never any probs! :D
