Sorry if this is a bit long...

My husband was looking a Pioneer DEH P77MP for his classic Saab. I know it's a bit out-of-date now, but it was what he wanted. Couldn't find a new one anywhere, so I was bidding on Ebay and getting outbid every time :(. Then I came across Car Audio Security. They (supposedly) had it new, and also had an i-pod adapter for it (supposedly). I thought "Great! That's Christmas sorted :D!"

I ordered the Pioneer DEH P77MP with i-pod adapter online from Car Audio Security. They assured me it would arrive either the Thursday or Friday before Christmas. I thought "Happy Days :D!" I waited for the post... Nothing arrived Thursday... Nothing arrived Friday...:( Called them up and asked where is my order? They tell me that Parcelforce have it and give me a tracking number. I try tracking it to no avail :(. Phone back Car Audio Security, they say Parcelforce will deliver between Christmas and New Year. Feeling a bit miffed at this stage that present won't be there for Christmas :(, but tell husband present will be late and he's okay :). Expect post on Wednesday, but nothing arrives :(. Phone Parcelforce. They say they're going to collect parcel from Car Audio Security today. I think "WTF?" and phone Car Audio Security. They apologise about Parcelforce not delivering, and I enquire as to why they said Parcelforce had parcel when Parcelforce had yet to lift it. Car Audio Security say again that Parcelforce have parcel and will deliver before New Year :(. Friday comes. Still no parcel :(! Try tracking parcel again with Parcelforce. They tell me that they weren't given the parcel when they went to pick it up on Wednesday . Slightly more than irate, I phone Car Audio Security, they say Parcelforce have parcel and will deliver after New Year. I demand to speak to someone in charge to ask why they're lying to me about Parcelforce having parcel when they don't !

I've now cancelled my order with Car Audio Security and hope that the money I paid out on my credit card will be refunded . Would not recommend that anyone deals with this company. They're a total bunch of :tosser:! :bang: :bang: :bang:

Now my husband hasn't received his Christmas present at all...

i've ordered from them a couple of times and it's been ok, however once i ordered something, they e-mailed me saying it was out of stock, i replyed stating what i would like to order instead...

and because i made a simple mistake with the product number i got a snotty e-mail from them telling me not to waste there time, i then told them i wanted to cancel the order and they said i couldn't.

however when i rang up they did cancel it for me in the end.

This is the reason why I don't use any links from their site - I've heard of too many people having problems.

I actually got to Car Audio Security from Amazon! I thought that if Amazon was recommending them it would be okay...:(

Maybe I'm right in my usual approach to buying things... I usually surf the net to get information on products, and then armed with the knowledge as to what I really want, I then go looking locally for the goods by ringing around places I know or calling into shops locally, finding out if they have it or can get it, and then visiting them to pay and collect. It sometimes takes time to find the supplier (It took about 3 weeks to source the printer I wanted, and probably about 2 months to get the Winter Tyres I wanted for my Panda), but in the end I usually get what I want :D without getting ripped off for postage to Northern Ireland which always seems to be twice the price of postage to anywhere else in the UK .

I just feel bad right now, cause we only got married in August, and Car Audio Security cocked up my main Christmas present...

Oh and does anyone know of somewhere else I might be able to still get a Pioneer DEH P77MP? I'd still like to try and get him one (hopefully before his birthday in February).

Sorry to hear about that, maybe you've sorted something by now buts its worth trying talkaudio.co.uk If you're not already registered then you won't be able to post a wanted thread for a while but you can still browse the for sale forums and send a PM when/if something becomes available.

I use caraudiodirect for my car audio bits and they're great, commonly regarded as an A+ company

Another satisfied caraudiosecurity customer here.

Yeah every company makes mistakes, it's the way they handle them that set thems apart from others, it appears they have handled it bad in this instance.

Get your stuff from another company and then phone caraudio and say you could have had £X from me but feckd it up.

Liam

I know this probably isn't much help now but I know they aren't that good either!

I've found www.caraudiodirect.co.uk to be fantastic however and the prices are just as cheap... they are very good with delivery, and communication is fantastic.

Hope you get what you want and your husband understands :)

Credit card has now been refunded... Now I'm off to look again!

sorry to hear it, just thinking??? has anyone elso noticed how many smileys she put in?? lol

if its just a TV/dvd player he's after then the ripspeed one at halfords is not bad for the money, it'd work out at around £250-£300 i think(ruff estimate, we use euro).,., i have one and its not bad for what you pay., it has plenty of features, camera output, 7.1 surround i think etc.,.,.
i was delighted with it, although that was partly due to getting it for nothing.,.,lol
also they've released a touch screen version with more spec.,.

Has anyone bought anything from TheBassBin? They appear to have the Pioneer DEH P77MP head unit.

Just don't want to rush ahead and order to be disappointed once again .

PS: I like smileys... :nerner:

I've heard good and bad things about them, so I'm not too sure.

why that one in particular? you can go with any of the pioneer stereos that the model no. ends with a "P" and it'll have ipod connectivity.,.,

He wants a classic look for his classic car...

He doesn't want something that lights up like a Christmas tree. It would look out of place in the car... He wanted something that looked simple with minimum lights, buttons and fuss. Unfortunately for me, the one that he's picked is awkward to find...

Has he considered a Becker? They're pretty OEM looking.

I did a phone round local ice suppliers. No-one had the Pioneer, but one did ask as to what it was to go in, and suggested Becker. I checked out their website and got hubby to do the same. He wasn't sure, but I suggested going down to check it out.

So yesterday I ended up getting the Becker Grand Prix in green with i-pod adapter.

Ta Chaos for your advice! :D

No problems - hope he enjoys it - they're very decent HUs :)
