Hi all, first up, great forums. I've usually found what I've been looking for on the forums so this is my first post. I'd like to say hi to all.

I've fitted a Sony Xplode head unit in my Brava 1.4s. I did have a pair of Infinity 6012i's (160mm) in the doors but they sounded pap due to not fitting right. I mean by this that pressure from the back of the cone able to escape round to the front causing flat spots and inadaquate bass.

I've now put in a pair of Apline 75C2's (5x7") which sound pretty nice.

I was wondering:

1) Properly fitted which are considered the better speaker?
2) Any chance the Alpines could be fitted either side of the parcal shelf?
3) The car has no wiring to the rear apertures. How would I go about running this wiring and how would it connect to the block behind the stereo?
4) If I'm running wires front to rear, would there be any prep work I could do incase I decide to add an amp/sub later?
5) Any tips on how to properly mount the Infinity's properly in the front?

I've tried using google to answer all these questions to no avail. Any help or links to guides would be much appreciated.

Why not put the 5*7s in the door?

Cable can go from the back of the radio through the back of the glove box, down underneath the plastic trim, under the rear seats and where you want from there. Run a power cable and RCAs down there incase?

I have a Becker CD head unit, small Toyota active subwoofer, JBL 5*7 door speakers and JBL speakers at the side of the shelf (forgotten the size?), sounds pretty good, of course because I have a later SX the cabling was already there though.

I'm guessing you mean putting them in the back doors? If so is that possible? I have them in the front at the mo as it's an easier fit for the time I had.

You've kinda given me the confidence to run the wiring, I just need to get a wiring diagram for the block and any connectors needed.

I'm now starting to think seriously about spending £70-100 on an active sub or cheap amp/sub combo. Especially as I've had a look on ebay and seen how cheap 200w RMS can be. How easy would this be to fit? Any thoughts on this would be helpful.

Sad thing is I have a 200w RMS active sub in the garage and it's bloody good quality. Trouble is it runs on 240v :(

No in the front, sorry I didn't realise you had them already there, I must have completely misunderstood.

The cabling is fine, the only dodgy part being the trim at the front on the passenger side, it has a nice tendancy to crack and snap, although I was lucky when I did it, my first brava had already had this damaged when somebody put a CD changer cable down there.

It's pretty easy however, but I would suggest you remove the glove box (about 8 screws) as it makes it easy to route it there and keep it neat. You have to remove quite a bit of trim (including the seatbelt bolt I believe) to get it hidden to the back. I am not that impressed by my active sub but it is very poor, i went that way since I hate the look of sub/amps.

It's some Toyota OEM item, probably from an MR2, It's ok but not that great. In terms of active subs, clarion and blaupunkt make some very slim ones, I would buy one but I can't justify the cost for what might be a small gain. TBH I am not exactly a ICE know-it-all but my kit was all bought through recommendations on here really (except for the active sub).
