Sony Xplod? Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole TBH. The only really good Sony is stuff like the C90R - although the only way you'd get one for 120 quid is if it was broken.

The HU's amp is weak compared to standalone amps and 50W means absolutley bugger all.

I like the Alpine HUs - they are a bright sounding, but this can be rectified if you're upgrading speakers etc - IMO their flexibility makes up for the bright sound - http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=3823

The JVC units also give you good bang for your buck and sound half decent too. :)

maybe you'd like to look into something kenwood makes?

I've just thrown in a Kendoow HU into my brava. Great improvement from the stock stereo but somehow, i still can't find the function that changes the light colour from green to red.

Can't say anything about realiability though, haven't had it for that long. However, sound quality is great and cd's don't cut off when running over potholes as much as they do in the JVC unit my dad has.

weve got a few HU's in work with this style front, the front slides down and the buttons swivel out to access the CD at the top. IMO it feels flimsy and i wouldnt trust it.

ive got a sony HU and i think its good SQ (dont kill me chaos) ive got the CDX-GT500 its a flexible HU and easy to change the sound and looks good too! (y)

For the money you are going to spend go for the Sony, heard many at shows and know people running them, for the price range they are all right. If you want to spend more go with alpine but their lower price range ones are not that different to others you would have to spend some money.
All in all if you like the Sony go for it.(y)

hey guys went for the sony in the end, got all fitted now pics to follow, only just refitted my vibe black air sub so i'm yet to test cross overs and eq properly, will make a mix cd to test different genre's from D&B to some good old jazz!

first impressions are realy goo, much better than my old panasonic HU. the flip down front is actuallyreally sturdy and the black/ blue look looks awesome as i have sprayed interior black with metal flake.

thank you all for your advice, much appreciated :worship:
