All my stuff came through today and I think i will need a trailer to put the GTO 6000 amp in, its HUGE.

I have all my plans drawn out so im off to get my sound deadining today and the MDF and hopefully start something by next week.

Im still waiting on the carpet though;)

Speaker cables, what does everyone reckon, im thinking of using the flat speaker wire cause it will be easier to route through the car, good or bad idea?????

I also want to get rid of interference and crackling so, ive been looking in maplins and seen some gadgets that claim to get rid of these annoyances, waste of money or what???

Get the fattest speaker cable you can afford, it will still go through the car but will be a reassurance that you've done the best you can.

You wont need any ground loo isolators if you've set it up and wired it all correctly, most things like that are a bodge, you just need to find the problem.

Good luck mate, get some pics up as your doing it, I know how much work goes into installing the simplest of installs so I'd love to see you installing that slab of an amp!! :)

One more question:

Heat guns - No joking - have i got a chance of blowing my car up with one, i have never used one before and i have a fuel pump where im gonna be working around and inside one of the rear quarts i got the petrol filler thingy.

Just dont heat gun the metalwork, if your using it for sound deadening (which i assume you are) do the sound deadening, then put it on the panel, or use a hairdryer, just as effective but wont heat it up as much.

Flashing tape? Thats cool, its all better than not using anything, its a damn sight easier than using 'proper' sound deadening.

All sound deadening is is a thicker version of flashing tape.

The point in heating it up is to make it supple and stickier, with flashing tape, I just took the backing off (when I had cut the right shape) and gave it a quick blast with a hair dryer just so it stuck better, you dont need to make it more supple than it already is, you'll find its really easy to work with.

Feel how sticky it is when you first get the backing off it, then heat it with a hairdryer and try again, it'll be a lot, lot stickier.

*TOP TIP* Stick it somewhere warm the night before you use it, makes it easier to use.
