Last week some thiving little t055ers nicked my car and set it alight :(

I need to make a claim on the insurance, but the thing is
I neglected to tell them when I fitted an aftermarket
HU/speakers/etc...

Does upgrading the stereo count as 'modification' to the car?
and is it likely to invalidate my insurance because I didn't tell them?

Or in other words should I risk trying to claim for the stereo too,
or just keep quiet?

Thanks

im not sure but if it went up in flames then if u didnt spend too much on ur HU let it go and dont mention it.

if u bought the car second hand u cud say that it was like it when u got it and ask for a tad more in ur claim

bad luck dude i had my motor bike stolen and flamed it leaves a bitter taste

i think you will be ok unless you are claiming for lots. normally car insurance covers you upto a set limit for audio equip unless you tell them and take out extra. most cars will have after market head unit in them so that will be fine. but obvisously if you went the whole hog head unit, speakers, amps and subs then i doubt they will pay you for them. its not like the theives stole it because that was in there as all they did was torch it the lil b*st*rds

i really dont get that. why steal a car and then set fire to it? theres a burnt out vauxhaul cavalier (I think) at my local halfords in the car park. completly burnt out. whats the point? if they just dump it atleast the owner can reclaim it (if its worth it) .. but i suppose somepeople really are just arseholes

I think the burning it out bit is to make sure they get rid of all the evdence (prints etc etc..)

most companies have a set limit on ice claims ,usually £500 ish so just make sure youre claim is at youre maximum amount because outwith that its not worth it and they may query if you claim for too much ice, maybe even reject the claim!!!but check youre policy and see what uninsured losses are covered and make it up by using this with (made up if need be) other items

Speaking from experience are we Ben? ;)

Had to get rid of evidence brfore have we? ;)

Sad to hear about your car mate. Some wa*kers in the world have no respect for other people. Chop off their balls, I say. Thats justice.

I would always check up with your insurers when it cames to car audio, its a bit of a dodgy subject with most of them.

That means I have about £300 left to spend before I risk losing it all! That should cover a new amp and a line driver! :D

Your ICE won't be covered unless you declared it (except maybe the HU); however, you COULD claim that the components were in your boot...it's risky though!

As for the scrotes who nicked it: hunt them down and POISON THE B***ARDS! [:(!]
