Quote from Craig (Moorsey on www.corsa-c.co.uk) on his experience of switching from Alpine to the above Kenwood head unit.

“Although I have always gone for Alpine in the past, I think I can safely say that a move in audio manufacturers was well worth it. Having had my Alpine 9833R for a year or so, I decided that a change was well overdue. Having researched some of the new headunits around on numerous websites, I asked Mark at Purecarsound for prices of headunits that wouldn’t have normally jumped out at me. Not having ventured away from Alpine in the past, Mark suggested I move to Kenwood and I haven’t regretted it.

The Kenwood KDC-W6534U is a superb headunit and although it might not be the most graphical and exciting headunit on the market, it offers some excellent features. Attached to mine I have the IP500 I-Pod Interface kit and Steering wheel controls which makes the unit so much easier to use while driving. I love the sound quality with the built in 24-bit DAC, complemented by my components all round. It also has a USB input to which i have a 60GB hard drive attached, not something I would have found on other headunits.

After having some experience with the Alpine 9855R, I would recommend anyone to try out Kenwood headunits for their features. In my opinion, this is the best unit I have had to date and I can’t wait to get my install completed.”

Err....any chance of you lowering the price a tad to be competitive? It took me all of 2 minutes to find a better deal TBH (i.e. less than £286, £10 postage), and that's without using any discounts whatsoever.............

Now with all due respect to Craig, I think he's a tad barmy to suggest that this Kenny is better than a 9855 in terms of features. With the exception of the DAC (24 bit for the Kenny, 1 for the 9855/9853) I can't see anything on the Kenny that beats the 9855............and it shouldn't either, considering that going on price, the 9855 should be better than that Kenny. The 9853 is the direct competitor to that Kenny and IMO, in terms of features, the 9853 is the superior of the two................

for me im used to kenwood plus it saves buying a new a new changer and i like the steering remotes

Its a personal thing but all of these units are capable of sounding great with the right setup/components, so much so that it's very difficult to distinguish one from another.

The price difference here though is considerable.

I can match the CAD price (you lot drive a hard bargain.. bang goes my profit margins!) on the kit down to £275, but will have to check what postage costs would be as my supplier on this kit ships direct to my customers for me, therefore i don't have to re-post and add on extra shipping costs into the margins for this offer. Don't forget though that CAD have direct dealer accounts with the major manufacturers, for most of the kit I sell I have to go through a UK Distributor who buys it on my behalf from the manufacturer and sells it on at profit.

Re the ebay prices, one of the items is second hand (warranty issues possibly) even though it has 'never been used' apparently?
