I have a 53 Punto and have just bought a CD head unit to replace the standard cassette player. The problem is it wont work. The new CD player works fine in my girlfriends Proton and the cassette player works fine when reconnected. Any ideas?

Howdo T14086. Not sure what you meant by lives(+). The unit wont do anything when i connect the leads. I'll start a search of the threads. Cheers.

Your aftermarket head unit will require 2 lives(one battery live & one ignition live) you will probably find the punto wiring is missing one of these lives or it is in a different position on the ISO connector.

Do you have a test light or multimeter?

Would an ISO wiring adaptor help?
Depends. What CD player is it? Most decent Cd players have a loom on them where you can switch the red and yellow wires around (or join them together). Another possibilty is that there is only one live on the ISO block.
If this is the case you can get a PC-18-4 adaptor from halfords, etc that effectively joins all your live wires together. Also check your fuses!

hi every 1. last week i fitted my head unit and until i put it all into place the cd player wouldnt work a all. but now for some reason it wont work and neither will the standard cassette player. does any 1 have any idea what it could be because im thinking of taking it all to get rewired if i cant fix it????

You definately won't need a cap - is the amp overheating at all? Is the amp going into protection mode?
