i have fiat punto sporting R-reg. ive just started to
upgrade the ICE init. ive put a new head unit in and custom fit speakers.
but when it came to the wiring of the front speakers i got stuck.

i took out the old front door speakers and looked at the cables but they
didnt make any scene to me.
which color was positve cabel for the speakers. so i looked at the join at
the back of the cd player(were the new wiring connects with the old wiring).

i noted down which way round the old cables joined with the new cables.
for the front right i had a pink cable with a stip and then a black cable
with a strip.

but when i looked at the cables in the right front door they were black and
white with stripes.
how the hell did they change.

then i realised about the two on the dash. were was they getting the inputs
from.
so im thinking that the two outputs for the front are split to make outputs
for the speakers on the dash.

would i be right in thinking this.
but that still leaves me the problem of not know which is the right wire for
the plus and negatives for my new speakers in the front.

please can you help me.
if you want any other information please let me know.

Get the crappy OE wire out and put the fattest cable you can fit in there. Problem solved.

yer i could do that. but what about the two speakers on top of the dash how would they then be connected.

id have six spaeakers needing an out put from the cd palyer but i only have the four.

I dont know for sure but:

The speakers on top are probably tweeters. Knowing OE stuff they will have an in built HPF. Run the cable to the main speaker in the door, then run another cable to the tweeter on top of the dash. It could actually be easir to run a cable from the HU and then split it off to the the door speakers and the tweeter, this way, you dont have to run cable into the door, then back out of the door.

The rear speakers will be normal OE crappy full range jobbies (thats a technical term!) So just run the cable straight from the HU to that one.

Take your time with it, remember to do it properly and you wont have to redo it another time.

Or if your not too confident, take it to a reputable car hi-fi place and get them to do it. Just make sure they are trustworthy, then they might not rip you off for just laying some cables ;)
