im fitting a JVC CD-mp3 radio in my punto mk1 ,does anyone know what colour wire is what as they dont match the colours on my cd player ,thanks for any advice or site.

Cant you just connect the right wires to the block ,the only thing is no colours match,i guess red, yellow.and black are important but what colour are the puntos wires i connect it to?In my cd player all wires are connected to a block except for a brown and a blue one?I really need to know what to connect the red, yellow and black wires to as i can work the rest out myself, thanks for any help at all.

of course you can connect them.however you need a multimeter to work out whicjh wire is which.also i would never recommend cutting the ISO block off the loom.
i always just use an ISO adapter as its an easy quick install/removal.the colours dont match as its down to the maufacturer what colours they use.

I am also trying to fit a JVC KD-G311 mp4 player to our Punto, and was told by the guy in Halfords that we dont need an adaptor. The only problem is that as you say, the wires dont match. I have a black, a red, and a yellow wire left from the back of the mp3 player, and the car itself has a THICK black wire (which I'm to connect to the black mp3 wire), and a red wire, and another red wire with a black line. I've connected all the speaker wires according to what someone said on another forum, but I'm not sure what the remaining wire do. Can anyone help, as I dont want to blow a fuse?

Thanks

tif

so, remaining wires in car

thin red
thin red/black
thick black

Were these 2 wires supplied with the HU? If they are, the blue is a remote cable and the brown is the telephone mute wire (at least it was with my JVC HU)

I would say the red is permanent 12V, yellow is switched 12V and black is the ground wire on the JVC HU, going off my own JVC HU :) But to be 100% certain, I would put a multimeter on each wire to ascertain this is correct. Do you have the JVC wiring diagram and a schematic for the Punto's wiring?

I dont have a schematic for the Punto's wiring? Does anyone know where I could get one online? I'm not sure if it's different per year..but this car is a 1995 Punto. Surely there's a PDF document somewhere on here...but I spent nearly 2 hours last night looking for one...without success.

Thanks

Don't have a Haynes manual do you? If not, I recommend you get one :) They have all the wiring schematics in there (y)

Yessss fitted it today, prob have flat battery in morning lol.Connected in block=black to black red to red and red and black with a round fitting on(cut it of) into the yellow on jvc,got a haynes manual and kept jvc guide so managed to connect everthing up bar brown and the blue wire which arent needed. Also left with stripey yellow wire from fiat which dont need.Let us know if u need to know what colours what on fiat punto connections and i will put them up here as no one else seems to want to tell anyone .Even got memory and no ignition needed which i never had before!

Cheers Nero75...I should beable to do ours now. We do have a manual/book thing for the car, but it's not as accurate as we had hoped. It would be better if Fiat and all other car makes used a universal colour scheme.

Cheers

oh...so their not for the punto then...I assumed they were as I have those colours left too. If they are different for the punto it would be a great help if you could post them Nero75. I know what you mean....nobody seems to want to help anyone out...but at least other people who join will know how to do this in future.

Cheers.
