Can anyone enlighten me as to what the attached is? I’m looking to replace the stock stereo unit with a double din and the car audio shop have advised me to just remove it. However, they are not able to advise what it actually is or does. ?.

Vehicle is actually a 2012 relay but assume it will be the same in a Ducato or Boxer.
