how can i securely fit car stereo with universal cage??

have just bought a alpine stereo but didnt come with the cage, so i doubt i will find a cage that will be right for it, so if i buy a universal one how would i fit it secure? normally you would fit the cage, push some of the pegs out, makes it really secure and then the stereo slots in and clips, but with a universal stereo it wont secure in the cage, so i would have to secure it with pegs with the cage out, but then i couldnt fit it securely in the car cos i wouldnt be able to push the pegs out and secure it, how can i do it? any ideas?

no alpine ones on ebay? i got a kenwood one

yeah there are but 2 different types, so i wouldnt know what one.

write to alpine with a sob storey about how you love the headunit sounds great etc.., but forgot to take the cage when you sold your car, they may send you a new one FOC out of good will...

i had the same problem. i stuck some electrical tape around it then shoved it in. took me 30 mins to get it back out but uve got no chance of any theif getting it out quickly, plus all they need is the prongs for it.

any way you need to find out the type.most suppliers will know if you give them the model number

what can i say im a student on a budget.lol. it did the trick tho till i wanted to get it out, then the problems began.lol
